You submitted an edit to 917317 to add the note: "The story first appeared in Analog (6/2003 issue). The story was later collected in the 2006 book Creative Destruction." This is accurate, but we in fact have the 219361 on record (our coverage of Analog is pretty good), and the ultimate solution is to merge the two records. If you want help with this, or do not want to do it, let me know and I will merge them. -DES Talk 15:24, 27 August 2009 (UTC)

You may not have found the 2003 version because it is titled "By The Rules" rather than "By the Rules". -DES Talk 15:26, 27 August 2009 (UTC)

From what I can find, this publication is like the old ACE doubles, dos-a-dos format, which would mean that each half/side would be separately paginated. The way we do that is to enter the two page counts as A+B [eg. 100+110] in the record. Also, since the two halves are separate, the publication is properly designated an Omnibus, in this case a novel [I'm assuming Countdown is of novel length?] plus a collection. As for the image, we don't have permission to deep-link directly to the Wildside Press website, but that is easily bypassed by downloading the image from Wildside and then uploading it to the DB. Since it is just a thumbnail the resolution is too small for anyone to use/pirate. Checked the Wildside website but the page counts aren't listed, nor is the length for Countdown.  ~Bill, --Bluesman 02:48, 29 May 2010 (UTC)

Welcome!

Hello, Elerner, and welcome to the ISFDB Wiki! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you need help, check out the community portal, or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! Mike Christie (talk) 13:01, 25 Jan 2007 (CST)

A note on your updates

Thanks for making those updates; you don't need to leave a note in the note field explaining that you've corrected the spelling, though. The change is apparent to the moderator, and of course once it's corrected the note won't make sense to anyone looking at that book, so I removed the note. Let me know if you have any questions. Future Washington

Hi, I see you've put the contents of this anthology in the notes section. Unfortunately when you add a new publication to a title it does not give you the opportunity to add the contents at that stage. Though you can do it in two passes, one to create the publication and a second to edit the publication and add the contents. Normally I'd suggest cloning another publication for the title (using the clone this pub option) but the other title didn't list the stories either.

So I will accept the submission but the contents of the notes field will need to be added as contents records. You can edit the publication once it is created to do this or I can go in and do that for you. --Unapersson 17:06, 18 Mar 2007 (CDT)
