A note on your updates

Thanks for making those updates; you don't need to leave a note in the note field explaining that you've corrected the spelling, though. The change is apparent to the moderator, and of course once it's corrected the note won't make sense to anyone looking at that book, so I removed the note. Let me know if you have any questions. Future Washington

Hi, I see you've put the contents of this anthology in the notes section. Unfortunately when you add a new publication to a title it does not give you the opportunity to add the contents at that stage. Though you can do it in two passes, one to create the publication and a second to edit the publication and add the contents. Normally I'd suggest cloning another publication for the title (using the clone this pub option) but the other title didn't list the stories either.

So I will accept the submission but the contents of the notes field will need to be added as contents records. You can edit the publication once it is created to do this or I can go in and do that for you. --Unapersson 17:06, 18 Mar 2007 (CDT)

By the Rules

You submitted an edit to "By the Rules" to add the note: "The story first appeared in Analog (6/2003 issue). The story was later collected in the 2006 book Creative Destruction." This is accurate, but we in fact have the 2003 version on record (our coverage of Analog is pretty good), and the ultimate solution is to merge the two records. If you want help with this, or do not want to do it, let me know and I will merge them. -DES Talk 15:24, 27 August 2009 (UTC) You may not have found the 2003 version because it is titled "By The Rules" rather than "By the Rules". -DES Talk 15:26, 27 August 2009 (UTC)

Countdown to Armageddon/A Stranger in Paradise

Greetings! From what I can find, this publication is like the old ACE doubles, dos-a-dos format, which would mean that each half/side would be separately paginated. The way we do that is to enter the two page counts as A+B [eg. 100+110] in the record. Also, since the two halves are separate, the publication is properly designated an Omnibus, in this case a novel [I'm assuming Countdown is of novel length?] plus a collection. As for the image, we don't have permission to deep-link directly to the Wildside Press website, but that is easily bypassed by downloading the image from Wildside and then uploading it to the DB. Since it is just a thumbnail the resolution is too small for anyone to use/pirate. Checked the Wildside website but the page counts aren't listed, nor is the length for Countdown. ~Bill, --Bluesman 02:48, 29 May 2010 (UTC)

Publication Series

The new fields available are not for Author series, but Publishers' series. Examples would be Gollancz's Masterworks of Science Fiction, the old ACE Special series, etc. In other words for books not related by 'universes' of one author's creation. There is [this] page, a little sparse as yet, but then the fields were just added recently. --~ Bill, Bluesman 14:05, 16 August 2010 (UTC)

If you wish to respond, to any post, just click on the [edit] button to the right. The page that opens will show the posting and above the editing window are a series of tabs. The second last one [looks like a squiggle] is the time/date/username signature tab. --~ Bill, Bluesman 14:05, 16 August 2010 (UTC)

Frontiers of Space...

I've accepted the submission adding this record, but made a few changes. "Trade paperback" was changed to "tp" (ISFDB standard), and the cover image link was moved from a website for which we don't have permission to link to the image on Amazon. If you can add content records for the individual stories and essays in the book, we can merge them the records that are already in the database. Mhhutchins 18:31, 28 March 2012 (UTC)

No Guts, No Glory

When modifying content that is part of a verified publication, you need to notify the verifier via their talk page. No Guts, No Glory appeared in Jim Baen's Universe, August 2009 which was verified by Swfritter. This is especially important in a case like this as publishers often make mistakes in a publication and fix them in latter versions (or on a website). We record what is in the publication even if it is "wrong." I have your edit on hold. Please notify Swfritter of your intended change. -- JLaTondre (talk) 13:03, 1 June 2013 (UTC)

Alien Altercations: Star (Spanning) Wars

Hello, I've approved your submission, nice catch (shame on me). Please remember to notify the PVs of such corrections (they may maintain their own databases). Consider me notified. Hauck 10:47, 4 July 2015 (UTC)

Dark Secret

Hello Elerner. I have approved your recent submission, but replaced the image (hosted by a site that we do not have permission to link to) by a link to Amazon. Thanks, Linguist 09:51, 13 August 2016 (UTC).

Muses & Musings: A Science Fiction Collectio

Hello,

Unfortunately we cannot link directly to the cloud so I replaced the link to an Amazon cover. If you have the cover and would like to upload it here, feel free. I also pulled the (I am the author) from the notes :) It should have gone to the moderator note as the Notes stay with the record. The result is here. Are you planning to add the contents of the book and do you need some assistance with that? And as you are the author, I suspect that you have the book (or will?) - do you plan on verifying it when you do?

Thanks! Annie 15:03, 10 September 2019 (EDT)

The Company Man

Hello,

Thanks again for adding your book. I approved it and fixed a few things:

  • Currency symbol in front of the price (as we are an international DB)
  • Removed the Novelization check mark - it is for books that are novelizations of movies (which this one does not seem to be).
  • Added the ASIN to the ebook and moved the number of pages to the notes as we do for ebooks
  • Added the paper version to the book as well.

The result is here and the complete title is here. Annie 13:14, 1 October 2019 (EDT)

The Sherlock Chronicles & The Paradise Quartet

I approved your submission of The Sherlock Chronicles & The Paradise Quartet, but I had to fix the definition of the cover scan. Amazon sometimes uses unacceptable definitions, this time "...images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/51K+twRyxrS._SX331_BO1,204,203,200_.jpg]. You need to remove everything between the underlines to "...images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/51K+twRyxrS.jpg]. This is a common error for those new to using ISFDB. On the Shoals of Space-Time

You submitted three edits to the original (incorrect) tp added by the bot. A moderator had already added the correct tp. Rather than rejecting you edits and deleting the incorrect publication, I approved one and then converted the publication to the ebook. Here is the result.
