When a publication is created that contains reviews, the reviews are linked to the reviewed title when possible. This is done automatically by matching the title names and the title authors contained in the review record and the potential title record. The are cases where the link cannot be made:

  • The title may not yet exist in the database.
  • The title may exist, but has a different name than that found in the review
  • Minor lexical differences may exist between the review and the title, such as the use of unicode.

The Link Review tools allows you to connect a review to a specific title. The tool will display the review record:

Linking the following review to the specified parent:

Title: The Flight of Icarus
Author: David Gerrold
Year: 1979-09-00
Type: REVIEW

The only thing you need to do is find the title, and copy/paste the title's record number into the form:

Enter the record number of the title this review refers to.

Parent #:

If a mistake has been made and you wish to break an existing link between the review and a title, use a parent number of '0'.

Note that the number must be the record number of a title record, and not that of a publication record.
