Welcome!

Hello, Nikoda, and welcome to the ISFDB Wiki! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

Note: Image uploading isn't entirely automated. You're uploading the files to the wiki which will then have to be linked to the database by editing the publication record.

Please be careful in editing publications that have been primary verified by other editors. See Help:How to verify data#Making changes to verified pubs. But if you have a copy of an unverified publication, verifying it can be quite helpful. See Help:How to verify data for detailed information.

I hope you enjoy editing here! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will insert your name and the date. If you need help, check out the community portal, or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! PeteYoung 19:59, 24 June 2013 (UTC)

We Had Stars Once

Hi Nikoda, I've approved your edit to add We Had Stars Once to the database, however I have made a few small corrections to the format of entry for some of the data:

– "Paperback" should be entered as "pb". If it is in fact a larger format paperback you can now edit the publication to say "tp" (trade paperback) or also "hc" for a hardcover edition – you can click on where the left-hand menu bar says "Edit This Pub" and then amend any data that needs changing.

– "8.99USD" should read "$8.99" for US dollars;

– I changed the publication date from "2013-00-00" to "2013-07-10" (yyyy-mm-dd format), as per the publication date visible on the book's Facebook page. You also entered all the stories as having the date "0000-00-00" which the database software understands as "unknown", so I corrected the date for each story to 2013-07-10 as well.

If you now wish to upload a cover, you can do so by clicking on "Upload cover scan" on the publication page and following the guidance on the screen How to Upload Images to the ISFDB Wiki.

Good job on your first edit! To edit further, the Edit Pub Help Page provides the guidance you need, and please don't hesitate to ask questions by replying here or asking at the Help desk, and please follow your comments with four tildes ( ~ ) which will sign and date it for you. Thanks for contributing! PeteYoung 20:30, 24 June 2013 (UTC)

Thank you so much, Pete! It's clear I still have a lot to learn, but the FAQs here seem quite comprehensive. Myself and those of us from WHSO are very grateful to be a part of the database. :o) Nikoda 21:59, 24 June 2013 (UTC)

Updated the publisher from Critical Mass to Critical Mass Rocketworks as we (myself, aka Kelley Ross, as half owner and my partner) changed the name of our company's face so as to differentiate from all the other Critical Mass named companies in the world. Nikoda 19:51, 27 June 2013 (UTC)

Updated author David Ross with birthyear (he's my husband so I know his birthyear) to differentiate between him and the David Ross that wrote Tricky, as that was not his. Nikoda 18:49, 28 June 2013 (UTC)

Hello, Nikoda. I have approved of your change, but looking over the appetite teasing contents, I wondered if this title shouldn't be changed in length to 'novelet'. In a conventionally set pb it certainly would be so. You are able to change the title by editing it, in case I am right: just replace the length 'ss' (short story) with 'nt'. Thank you very much for contributing. Stonecreek 19:10, 27 June 2013 (UTC)
Changed artist from David Young to David G. Young to differentiate between him and the other artist in isfdb named David Young. Nikoda 01:35, 28 June 2013 (UTC)
If he is credited as "David Young" in the publication, we have to use that as the credit in the ISFDB record. We can then disambiguate the name and create a variant record for the disambiguated name. We usually disambiguate names by giving the birth year. Do you know the author's birth year? If not, we can us the country of origin as well. Mhhutchins 02:01, 28 June 2013 (UTC)
Since this book hasn't been published yet, you'll have to give the source for your data in the record's Note field. Thanks. Mhhutchins 02:02, 28 June 2013 (UTC)
I emailed him and asked him his birth year. I'm not sure how to prove that. Also not sure where the birth year should actually go, so I just put it in parentheses after his name.

Edited David Ross's birth year to differentiate him from the David Ross that wrote "Tricky". My source is that the David Ross in We Had Stars Once is my husband. Nikoda 18:50, 28 June 2013 (UTC)
