You want to update this record noting that it's the 14th printing. This record is for the first printing in 1996. If your copy is the 14th printing then you should clone the record to create a new one, making adjustments in the new record to conform to the data in your copy. Thanks for the clarification. The notes (prior my submitted edit) did not include any information concerning the printing. The page count, binding, publisher, copyright date, and price matched, and I wanted to get the contents list fleshed out. Because nothing differs from the first printing, I don't feel the need to create a clone. Stevedave42 16:55, 9 July 2012 (UTC)
You have that option, which is always open if you want to create a list of verified records of books from your collection. Many of the records in the database have not been verified, but you can assume that the record is for the first printing, even though that's not always the case. Mhhutchins 19:55, 9 July 2012 (UTC)
I've also noticed that the Douglas Adams author page shows the title as published in 1999, and I'm unsure of how to adjust that information on an author page. Again, thanks for the help. Stevedave42 16:55, 9 July 2012 (UTC)
I corrected the date for the title record based on the date of the first publication. To correct the date (or add other data) to a title listed on an author's page, click on it and then click the link "Edit Title Data" under the Editing Tools menu. Thanks for contributing. I accepted your submission for this anthology, and appreciate your willingness to enter all this data. I made a few small changes to your submission, as follows: I added some formatting to the publication notes, and added a link to the WorldCat record for the book (since it doesn't have an ISBN, it doesn't link automatically); I added a cover image from Amazon; and I added a $ in front of your price listing -- since this is an international database, it's important to use a currency symbol so a visitor knows the "actual" cost, and generally also can tell where it was published. Thank you for looking this submission over, it's been some time since my last entry. I do have a scan of the cover, and I didn't see an easy way to upload it prior to your acceptance. The Amazon image is identical, but is there an advantage to uploading my own image? I do plan to edit the title information for each short story to incorporate them into the proper series listings on each author summary bibliography page (hopefully tomorrow). There's a slight advantage in using Amazon's images, because we don't have to use our own storage space (which we pay for). I always go for an Amazon image if they have one, and try only to scan in my own books if they don't have an image, or if it's too small, or a bad copy. But your right, there isn't an easy way to add an image on a "New Pub" submission, without waiting until the submission is approved. Chavey 08:38, 11 February 2015 (UTC)
