Welcome!

Hello, Lhadatto, and welcome to the ISFDB Wiki! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

Note: Image uploading isn't entirely automated. You're uploading the files to the wiki which will then have to be linked to the database by editing the publication record.

Please be careful in editing publications that have been primary verified by other editors. See Help:How to verify data#Making changes to verified pubs. But if you have a copy of an unverified publication, verifying it can be quite helpful. See Help:How to verify data for detailed information.

I hope you enjoy editing here! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will insert your name and the date. If you need help, check out the community portal, or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! Mhhutchins 06:19, 24 November 2011 (UTC)

Asian Horror Encyclopedia

I accepted the submission to add this record to the database, but made changes to make it comply with ISFDB standards. Those standards are on help pages which are linked in the Welcome section above.

I added a publication date based on the listing on Amazon.com. I changed the page count to that given in the OCLC record. I linked the record to the cover image file on Amazon. (We don't have permission to "deep-link" to the publisher's server.) I also gave the complete title of the book as seen in the Amazon "Look-Inside" and stated in the OCLC record. The author's name was changed to match the OCLC record (added his middle initial). The publisher was also changed to match the OCLC record which provides the title page credit.

If any of these changes are not correct, please post a response here. Thanks. Mhhutchins 03:56, 15 May 2014 (UTC)

Nyctalops

There's several problems with the submission to add a record for an issue of this fanzine. I'll accept it, but will have to make extensive changes:

  • Correct the spelling of the title from "Nytalops" to "Nyctalops"
  • Correct the spelling of the editor from "Harry O. Molrris, Jr." to "Harry O. Morris, Jr."
  • Add the issue number/date (18, April 1983) to the title field (this is necessary to distinguish one issue of a periodical from another.)
  • Change the publication date from "1983" to "1983-04"
  • Change the page count field to "72" (we count the covers for periodicals.)
  • Remove all of the artists that you've credited in the cover art field. Please update the record to credit only the cover artist in the "Artist1" field.
  • Change the credit for the piece by Joshi from "S.T. Joshi" to "S. T. Joshi" (we add a space after each initialed letter in a name.)
  • Change the type of "Robert Aickman: A Preliminary Checklist" and the letter column from NONFICTION to ESSAY. The former is used for book-length nonfiction works. The latter is used for shorter nonfiction works which are contained in a larger work.
  • Remove all credits given to the letter column, and change it to "various". You have the option to create separate content records for each of the letters. Title them as "Letter (Nyctalops 18)".
  • Move the data you gave in the "Note to Moderator" field to the "Note" field. The first field is for information about the submission which disappears once the submission is handled. The second field is information about the publication which becomes a permanent part of the record.

A questions: is the spelling of the letter column correct? Should it be "Manuscripts"?

Please take some time to look over this help page which is a field-by-field guide to creating publication records for the ISFDB. If you have any questions about this record, please post them here. If you have questions about any future submissions, please post them on the ISFDB:Help desk. Thanks for contributing. Mhhutchins|talk 18:42, 7 October 2015 (UTC)

Here is the corrected record. I've linked a cover image to it. Please look it over and make any corrections in a pub edit. Thanks. Mhhutchins|talk 18:53, 7 October 2015 (UTC)

Added missing poems, data from FictionMagsIndex (note added to pub). Doug / Vornoff 13:30, 7 September 2017 (EDT)
