Welcome!

Hello, Foxjwill, and welcome to the ISFDB Wiki! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

Note: Image uploading isn't entirely automated. You're uploading the files to the wiki which will then have to be linked to the database by editing the publication record.

Please be careful in editing publications that have been primary verified by other editors. See Help:How to verify data#Making changes to verified pubs. But if you have a copy of an unverified publication, verifying it can be quite helpful. See Help:How to verify data for detailed information.

I hope you enjoy editing here! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will insert your name and the date. If you need help, check out the community portal, or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! Marc Kupper (talk) 22:31, 19 April 2008 (UTC)

The Magic of Recluce

I have your submission to change the price of The Magic of Recluce from $4.99 to $7.99 on hold for a moment. Since 1980 it's been quite common for publishers to keep the same ISBN and to increase the price when they reprint. It's quite likely that ISBN 0812505182 was sold at $4.99 and that your copy has $7.99. Fortunately, the solution is easy. Instead of editing the record for the $4.99 copy you would instead clone it (there's a link for this on the left) and would change the price of the clone from $4.99 to $7.99.

If you look at the title record for The Magic of Recluce you'll see that record exist for 0-812-50518-2 at $4.99 and two at $6.99. The reason for two records is one is for the 11th printing and the second is for the 12th printing.

When you clone the record could you please note the printing number in the notes too? It's on the bottom of the copyright page and should look like "20 19 18 17 16 15 14 13" if it were the 13th printing.

Actually - there's a minor puzzle in that we have a record for the 12th printing at $6.99 and yet on Amazon.com they have a Look Inside where I can see it's a 12th printing at $7.99. I suspect the ISFDB record is in error and it's likely you have a 12th printing. Marc Kupper (talk) 22:31, 19 April 2008 (UTC)
