I'm holding your submissions to add publication records for two webzines. It is the current ISFDB policy that, with few exceptions, web-based publications are not eligible for inclusion in the database. The sheer number of online publications and their ephemerality prohibit us from including all such publications. Exceptions can be made if a) the webzine issues are downloadable in any one of various ebook formats (Mobi, ePub, PDF, etc.) and can be accessed by an ebook reader (Kindle, Nook, Ipad, etc.), or b) the webzine is a paying market, has a stable history, the issues are readily accessible and maintained regularly, and sales to it would qualify an author for membership in the SFWA. ''The Pedestal Magazine'' would qualify based on its inclusion on the [http://www.sfwa.org/about/join-us/sfwa-membership-requirements/ SFWA-qualifying markets]. Issues of ''The Dream People'' would not qualify under either of these scenarios. If you just want to get your story "The Baby in the Forest" into the ISFDB, I can do that for you without having to create a publication record for ''The Dream People''. How does that sound? Thanks for clarifying the webzine rules and uploading the story reference. (Not sure if this is the appropriate way to respond on Talk, so please let me know if some other method is preferred)[[User:Schaller|Schaller]] 14:30, 13 February 2014 (UTC)Eric

Welcome!

Hello, Schaller, and welcome to the ISFDB Wiki! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

Note: Image uploading isn't entirely automated. You're uploading the files to the wiki which will then have to be linked to the database by editing the publication record.

Please be careful in editing publications that have been primary verified by other editors. See Help:How to verify data#Making changes to verified pubs. But if you have a copy of an unverified publication, verifying it can be quite helpful. See Help:How to verify data for detailed information.

I hope you enjoy editing here! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will insert your name and the date. If you need help, check out the community portal, or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome!

Shadows and Tall Trees

I've accepted the submission adding this issue of the title, but have made a few changes based on ISFDB standards. You'll find a link to the help pages that explain how to enter and update ISFDB records in the Welcome Section above.

  • I removed the number "1923-1164" from the ISBN/Catalog # field, assuming that's the ISSN, which does not go into that field. Although it's not mandatory that you add it to the record, if you want to, it should go into the note field. I've copies it there.
  • For generic content titles you should add the title of the issue in order to disambiguate from similar titles that may be by the same author. So I've changed "Editor's note" to "Editor's Note (Shadows and Tall Trees, Autumn 2011)".

Some questions: Does your copy have a stated price? Does it have a stated date of publication (other than "Autumn 2011")? According to the publisher's website, it's $15.00 so I added that to the record. I've also uploaded a copy of the cover to the ISFDB server and linked it to the record. Thanks for contributing.
