Dan Spain, Milo Hastings, and The Book of Gud"

Hi, and welcome! I found your proposed change to The Book of Gud. The way we handle titles written under pseudonyms is to make a "variant" title, substituting the real author's name (what the help calls the "canonical" name -- the name we've chosen as the main way to identify a particular author) for the pseudonym. Trying to put notes in parentheses after the author's name in the Author: field actually would cause an author with that whole block of text to be created, which is not what you intended. You make a variant title by starting in the same place from which you edited the title; the link is "Make This Title a Variant Title or Pseudonymous Work". I've rejected (sorry -- don't let that daunt you) your submission and have gone and made this variant for you. I also made Dan Spain a pseudoynm for Milo Hastings, and you can see how their respective bibliographies look. Thank you for contributing! The connection between Dan Spain and Milo Hastings if from "Looking Backward Into the Future," Harold Hersey, Golden Atom, issue of 1954-55. Should that article be listed in the Harold Hersey entry?
Also, A. Langley Searles published the SF fanzine "Fantasy Commentator" on and off and for decades. Should that be in his listing?

The ISFDB:Policy#Rules_of_Acquisition (often referred to as "RoA") say that paper-based fanzines are "in". So yes, you could enter them if you want to. FYI, see Magazines and Fanzines for some lists. This help: Help:How_to_link_a_magazine_to_its_wiki_page_and_add_it_to_a_magazine_series describes how to put a new "genre" magazine in place. For articles appearing in magazines whose primary content is not SF, see Help:Entering_non-genre_magazines. Looking Backwards Into the Future

You just submitted an entry for Looking Backwards Into the Future. You made it of type NONFICTION, which should mean a book-length work (shorter works of non-fiction are of type ESSAY).

You gave the date as "1954-55-00", but dates should be of form YYYY-MM-DD (with 00 for unknown month or day). The ISFDB does not support date ranges, if a publication carries a cover date of, say "December 1955 - January 1956" the date would be "1955-12-00".

You filled in the "Page" field with "45-68". This field is supposed to be the page count for a book-length or other-wise separately published work. See Help:Screen:NewPub (the pages section).

It looks to me as if you are trying to add an essay that appeared in a book or magazine. For this, you need to edit the publication record of the book or magazien, and add a content item there.
