As Step 6 of the upload instructions explains:
 +

Once the file has been uploaded, the image's wiki page will appear. In order to get the URL (address) for the image you just uploaded, left click anywhere on the image and copy the URL from your browser's address window. (Or right click on the image and choose "Copy Image Location".) If you're adding a cover image to a pub record, this is the URL which you would enter into the pub record's "Image URL" field.

You will now need to add the URL of this file into the URL field of this record in order for the image to be displayed with the record. The submission adding this record was accepted, but there is no source for the data given in the record's Note field. I'm assuming you're working from an actual copy of the publication, and if so, you can do a Primary Verification of the record. Instructions are in the links of the Welcome section above. Also, please add the actual date of publication in the record's date field in the format of YYYY-MM-DD, e.g. 2013-03-10. Thanks. Mhhutchins 02:31, 11 March 2013 (UTC)

OK, I updated the date.  I hope I did the verification correctly.  I also have another novel listed here, Testing the Prisoner, that was not verified.  I'll add Primary Verification for that as well.  Thanks for your help as it has been three years since the last time I added a publication here.  Phil 02:09, 12 March 2013 (UTC)

The image can not be more than 150 kb, and the height of the image can not be more than 600 pixels. Once the image is uploaded to the ISFDB server, copy its URL. Then go back to the publication record, click on "Edit this pub" and enter the URL of the newly-uploaded file into the Image URL field. If you have any questions, ask on the ISFDB:Help_desk. Hello, I've approved your submission for this anthology. In order to be not too much self-serving, It would be nice for you to enter the rest of the contents. Thanks. Hauck 17:01, 20 October 2016 (UTC)

:Hi. It is never my intention to be self-serving. However, in the past when I entered the full contents of a mixed-genre anthology, I was questioned by one of your colleagues as to whether all of the stories in the book were truly speculative fiction. They were not, so I had to remove some of the other stories. I believe there may be two or three other speculative fiction stories out of the 24 in this book, but I need to confirm. This is a mixed-genre book. If you prefer that I enter all of the stories, I will. Let me know, please. Thank you. Phil 17:22, 20 October 2016 (UTC)

::Actually, now that I look back on that previous mixed-genre anthology discussion (GLVWG Writes Stuff-I didn't pick that title, btw, it was a title by committee), I see that it was you who questioned me about the other stories. Learning from that experience, I will only add content if I am certain it is speculative fiction. Thus, I will likely edit this publication later once I confirm there are other speculative fiction stories in it. Thanks again! Phil 17:41, 20 October 2016 (UTC)

:::Yes, I frequently deal with new contributors ;-). It was the bits about "mermaid's moon, a Vampire Surf Club" or a "haunted Funland ride" that lead me to believe that there are perhaps other titles of interest.Hauck 17:46, 20 October 2016 (UTC)

::::I'm sure there are. The book just hit the market earlier this week and I won't have my copies until the book launch in November, but the publisher did send along the PDF version. I'll review that ASAP and add any other stories that fall into our favorite genres. BTW, you have a fantastic site. I'm constantly recommending ISFDB.org to speculative fiction readers and writers. I accepted your addition of 741898, but made a couple changes to conform with ISFDB standards:
 +
*Editor: I changed "Demi Stevens (Editor)" to "Demi Stevens". Roles should not be listed in the name fields. For anthologies, the software will show Editor on the final product even though the data entry form says author.
 +
*Spaces: I changed "N.J. Hammer" to "N. J. Hammer". Spaces should always follow periods.
 +
*Pub Note: I added a pub note stating this is a mixed genre publication and only genre stories indexed.
 +
*Cover: I added an Amazon cover. If you plan to scan and upload a local cover, you are welcome to replace it.

:Thank you. The cover image is fine. I normally upload them, but I appreciate you taking care of that. Sorry for adding "Editor" in the name field. == Scary Stuff ==

 +
I accepted you addition of 806776, bit made some changes to match ISFDB standards:
 +
*Spaces: If an author's name has periods, spaces should always have spaces after the periods.
 +
*Introduction: I changed it to an essay and added the pub title in parenthesis.
 +
*Title Case: We have specific rules on word capitalization (see Case under Template:TitleFields:Title)
 +
*Web Page: Links within the publication should be specific to that printing. Links that are for multiple versions should go at the title level field. Since the publisher link is for both the print and ebook version, I removed it from the pub and left it on the title record.
 +
*Date: Via the Amazon Look Inside, the full publication dates does not appear to be on the publication. I added a secondary source specifying the date as from Amazon. If there is an information not actually on the pub itself, there should be source for it.

:Thank you for making the corrections.
 +
*I realized my mistake with the period in the author name immediately after submitting, of course. Apologies for the typo.
 +
*As for the title capitalization, I originally typed the story titles exactly the way you have it now, but for some reason, I second-guessed myself. I'm not sure why, other than fatigue.
 +
*I pulled the publication date from the book's Amazon page, as you surmised, but did not see a field for specifying the source of the date. You are correct in that the publisher only specifies the year inside the book and not the month.
 +
*Now that the record is live, I will add the cover image. I appreciate your help. It has been a year since I added a record here, so I'm afraid I was a bit rusty. Phil 14:03, 7 November 2020 (EST)

Hello,

The Web links of the publications is for links to informational pages about this specific edition (other catalogs, publisher pages, blogs and so on) which we do not have external IDs for and not for bookstores (Amazon for example). So I moved the Goodreads one down to the external IDs and removed the Amazon one - for books with ASIN which is ISBN10, the link on the left menu reaches Amazon, for books with ASIN starting with B, we record the ASIN as an external ID. The result is here.

One question: where is the synopsis here coming from? If it is copied from somewhere, we need the source to be added an the text to be in quotes. Thanks! Annie 21:29, 23 March 2021 (EDT)

Welcome!

Hello, Pgiunta, and welcome to the ISFDB Wiki! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

Please be careful in editing publications that have been primary verified by other editors. See Help:How to verify data#Making changes to verified pubs. But if you have a copy of an unverified publication, verifying it can be quite helpful. See Help:How to verify data for detailed information.

I hope you enjoy editing here! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will insert your name and the date. If you need help, check out the community portal, or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! --~ Bill, Bluesman 03:04, 6 October 2010 (UTC)

Author update

The submission you have made would result in there being NO legal name. Not really sure if this is what you have intended, but since it is your name I would assume there is SOME legal version??!!¿¿ ;-) If Philip is not correct, then correct it... blanking the name seems to serve no purpose, or am I missing something? --~ Bill, Bluesman 03:07, 6 October 2010 (UTC)

Nope, that's fine, Bill. I'm still getting used to editing the info so it was a mistake. Everything is good now. Thanks! Pgiunta 19:27, 6 October 2010 (UTC)

Bio:Phil Giunta‎

I see you have created Bio:Phil Giunta‎. This is good, but a bio page is not the best way to list your work. It is better to create the appropriate publication records in the ISFDB proper.

For example, you mention "There Be In Dreams No War" which you say appeared in ReDeus: Divine Tales. E\We don't have records for these, but they can be added, which would list the work on your author page, Phil Giunta‎, automatically.

Forthcoming work can also be listed if the publication date and details are known with reasonable assurance.

I hope this is helpful. -DES Talk 22:29, 19 July 2012 (UTC)

Adding New Content

ReDeus: Divine Tales is out now. You can find it on Goodreads and Amazon. The book launch itself will happen on Friday, August 3 at a SF convention in Maryland called Shore Leave.

So how do I go about adding this to my biblography on ISFDB? I do have an entry on ISFDB but I do not know how to update my bibliography there. There are 11 total writers that contributed to the anthology. It was edited by Aaron Rosenberg and Robert Greenberger and published via their small press called Crazy 8 Press. Since I'm just a contributor, I did not want to add it to ISFDB by choosing the Add Anthology option. I feel like I would be stepping on Bob's and Aaron's authority there. Unless you want to add it, I'm sure that would be fine since you're a moderator here. Simply look up ReDeus on Amazon or Goodreads and the info is there. Thanks!

First, go to an ISFDB page, as opposed to a wiki page. The main page will do, or your author page. Be sure you are logged in. (your Username will appear in the upper left under "logged in as" if you are logged in.) To enter a record for a novel not currently in the database click the link for "Add New Novel" (found in the "Add New Data" section on the left). The New Novel edit screen will appear. Fill in the fields and click "Submit Data". For detailed instructions on the fields, see Help:Screen:NewNovel. For more on the general process, see Help:Getting Started and Help:Getting Started:Enter a Novel.
Collections can be added in a similar way, starting with the "Add New Collection" Link.
If you need further assistance, ask here or on the Help desk. Thank you for contributing. -DES Talk 18:05, 23 July 2012 (UTC)
Oh, please sign your wiki posts with four tildes (~~~~). The software will convert this into a signature and timestamp. You can customize the signature in your wiki User Preferences. See Help:Editing and Help:Wiki Conventions for more on editing the wiki. -DES Talk 18:05, 23 July 2012 (UTC)
Anyone who has a copy of the book, or a reliable secondary source for its details, may add a record to the ISFDB. If we waited for editors, or even contributors, the db would be only a fraction of its current size (besides, in many cases authors are long dead or retired). Using "Add Anthology" is pretty much the only way to get this credit into your bibliography, and is also doing the editors and other contributors a favor by getting it listed for them as well. You can also primary verify the book once you have entered it (if you are workign from a physical copy) and the edit has been approved. -DES Talk 18:09, 23 July 2012 (UTC)

Linking uploaded image files to the publication records

As Step 6 of the upload instructions explains:

Once the file has been uploaded, the image's wiki page will appear. In order to get the URL (address) for the image you just uploaded, left click anywhere on the image and copy the URL from your browser's address window. (Or right click on the image and choose "Copy Image Location".) If you're adding a cover image to a pub record, this is the URL which you would enter into the pub record's "Image URL" field.

You will now need to add the URL of this file into the URL field of this record in order for the image to be displayed with the record. If you need assistance, ask here or on the Help Desk page. Thanks. Mhhutchins 02:26, 11 March 2013 (UTC)

Thank you again for your support. Phil 20:17, 13 May 2015 (UTC)
I've made the required adjustments, everything appears now to be in order. Hauck 20:49, 13 May 2015 (UTC)
Perfect, thank you again!Phil 21:01, 13 May 2015 (UTC)

Uploading images

Hello, lease do not upload images like the one for Beach Nights without following the nstructions for uploading images that are here. Please use the "semi-automated procedure". You will first need to go to the publication record and click the link "Upload new cover scan". Then follow the instructions. Yes, sorry. I tried to follow the instructions, but became confused by the Publication ID. I wasn't certain where to find that value. Ironically, I added a speculative fiction anthology back in August with no problems, but this time for some reason, I stumbled over that and forgot about the semi-automated procedure. Thanks, again. Beach Nights

Hello, I've approved your submission for this anthology. In order to be not too much self-serving, It would be nice for you to enter the rest of the contents. Thanks. Hauck 17:01, 20 October 2016 (UTC)

Hi.
Actually, now that I look back on that previous mixed-genre anthology discussion (GLVWG Writes Stuff-I didn't pick that title, btw, it was a title by committee), I see that it was you who questioned me about the other stories. Learning from that experience, I will only add content if I am certain it is speculative fiction. Thus, I will likely edit this publication later once I confirm there are other speculative fiction stories in it. Thanks again! Phil 17:41, 20 October 2016 (UTC)
Yes, I frequently deal with new contributors ;-). It was the bits about "mermaid's moon, a Vampire Surf Club" or a "haunted Funland ride" that lead me to believe that there are perhaps other titles of interest.Hauck 17:46, 20 October 2016 (UTC)
I'm sure there are. Cheers! Phil 18:03, 20 October 2016 (UTC)

Over the River and Through the Woods

I accepted your addition of Over the River and Through the Woods, but made a couple changes to conform with ISFDB standards:

 • Editor: I changed "Demi Stevens (Editor)" to "Demi Stevens". Roles should not be listed in the name fields. For anthologies, the software will show Editor on the final product even though the data entry form says author.
 • Spaces: I changed "N.J. Hammer" to "N. J. Hammer". Spaces should always follow periods.
 • Pub Note: I added a pub note stating this is a mixed genre publication and only genre stories indexed.
 • Cover: I added an Amazon cover. If you plan to scan and upload a local cover, you are welcome to replace it.

Thanks. -- JLaTondre (talk) 19:48, 28 October 2019 (EDT)

Thank you. The cover image is fine. I normally upload them, but I appreciate you taking care of that. Sorry for adding "Editor" in the name field. I could be mistaken, but I seem to recall in the past, a separate field on the anthology submission form for Editor. If my weary eyes missed it this time, my apologies. Thanks again for your help. Scary Stuff

I accepted you addition of Scary Stuff, bit made some changes to match ISFDB standards:

 • Spaces: If an author's name has periods, spaces should always have spaces after the periods.
 • Introduction: I changed it to an essay and added the pub title in parenthesis.
 • Title Case: We have specific rules on word capitalization (see Case under Template:TitleFields:Title)
 • Web Page: Links within the publication should be specific to that printing. Links that are for multiple versions should go at the title level field. Since the publisher link is for both the print and ebook version, I removed it from the pub and left it on the title record.
 • Date: Via the Amazon Look Inside, the full publication dates does not appear to be on the publication. I added a secondary source specifying the date as from Amazon. If there is an information not actually on the pub itself, there should be source for it.

Thanks. -- JLaTondre (talk) 09:18, 7 November 2020 (EST)

Thank you for making the corrections.
 • I realized my mistake with the period in the author name immediately after submitting, of course. Apologies for the typo.
 • As for the title capitalization, I originally typed the story titles exactly the way you have it now, but for some reason, I second-guessed myself. I'm not sure why, other than fatigue.
 • I pulled the publication date from the book's Amazon page, as you surmised, but did not see a field for specifying the source of the date. You are correct in that the publisher only specifies the year inside the book and not the month.
 • Now that the record is live, I will add the cover image. I appreciate your help. It has been a year since I added a record here, so I'm afraid I was a bit rusty. Phil 14:03, 7 November 2020 (EST)
No problem. We appreciate the submission. I fixed the link to the pub above. Sorry for not adding that correctly to start. -- JLaTondre (talk) 14:22, 7 November 2020 (EST)
I just added the cover image following the semi-automated procedure. Seems like it worked... hopefully. Phil 14:27, 7 November 2020 (EST)
It did. I approved the edit. -- JLaTondre (talk) 14:55, 7 November 2020 (EST)

Meanwhile in the Middle of Eternity

Hi! The synopsis can be found on Goodreads, on Amazon, or on the publisher's website here
You may also use this as another link for the publication. Thank you! Phil 22:24, 23 March 2021 (EDT)
Synopsis Updated. Thanks! Annie 22:29, 23 March 2021 (EDT)
