Hi.  I accepted your changes to {{P|226241|Ubik}}, but we use a special form of publisher identification for book clubs.  The previous "Doubleday / SFBC" is how we would credit something published by Doubleday but issued through the Science Fiction Book Club.  Where all we know is "Book Club Edition", we use BCE, so: "Doubleday / BCE".  I made that change and augmented the notes.  Thanks for catching the mistake. --09:02, 30 December 2023 (EST)

Welcome!

Hello, Cprompt, and welcome to the ISFDB Wiki! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

Note: Image uploading isn't entirely automated. You're uploading the files to the wiki which will then have to be linked to the database by editing the publication record.

Please be careful in editing publications that have been primary verified by other editors. See Help:How to verify data#Making changes to verified pubs. But if you have a copy of an unverified publication, verifying it can be quite helpful. See Help:How to verify data for detailed information.

I hope you enjoy editing here! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will insert your name and the date. If you need help, check out the community portal, or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! -- JLaTondre (talk) 19:20, 24 January 2023 (EST)

Astounding Science Fiction, January 1947 (UK)

I accepted your addition of Astounding Science Fiction, January 1947 (UK), but had to make some changes to match ISFDN conventions:

  • Title: I updated the title to be consistent with how we designate the UK version.
  • Publisher: I standardized the publisher name.
  • Price: I updated the price format per Template:PublicationFields:Price
  • Image: I moved the image to correct location. When adding cover images, the "Upload new cover scan" should be used from the publication page so that is properly named and the correct template applied. For new pubs, this means you have to wait for the pub submission to be accepted before uploading the cover.

I also had some question:

  • The FictionMags Index says this also contained Simak's "Paradise: (on page 54). Is this not present?
  • The page count seems high at 180. Is that correct?
  • Are there any other contents? Essays, reviews, letter columns? If so, they should be cataloged as well.
  • Is the cover credited? It is a re-use of a William Timmins cover, but need to know whether magazine credited it or not.

We appreciate your submission & hope you will continue to contribute. ISFDB has some conventions that need learning so please check out the help links in the welcome message above. And let us know if you have any questions (ISFDB:Help desk is a good resource for asking). -- JLaTondre (talk) 19:20, 24 January 2023 (EST)

Faceless Planet

I'm holding this submission. What differentiates your submission from this one. I do see you are calling it a CHAPBOOK. Have you determined the length to be less than 40,000 words? If so, we can discuss with the current verifiers, reach agreement on length and convert the title from NOVEL to SHORTFICTION and the container to CHAPBOOK. Thanks, John Scifibones 14:04, 30 August 2023 (EDT)

Hey John, it's been over a month since I made the submission and honestly, I don't recall why I felt the need to make it! I'll just delete my submission. Thanks, cprompt.
Since you own the publication, I'm very interested in your opinion of the length. You might also PV the existing record. John Scifibones 14:26, 30 August 2023 (EDT)

Ubik, publishers, and book clubs

Hi. I accepted your changes to Ubik, but we use a special form of publisher identification for book clubs.
