Note: Image uploading isn't entirely automated. You're uploading the files to the wiki which will then have to be linked to the database by editing the publication record.

Please be careful in editing publications that have been primary verified by other editors. See Help:How to verify data#Making changes to verified pubs. But if you have a copy of an unverified publication, verifying it can be quite helpful. See Help:How to verify data for detailed information.

A Study in Ugliness

Hello, and welcome. Apologies for the long delay in getting to your submission. I've accepted your submission, but there were several issues with it (I've corrected those):

  • Synopsis - if quoted verbatim, needs to be between quotes, and source & date added - see Synopsis rules for more details
  • Format, ISBN, price missing - I've added these from info on Amazon.com, and added a note
  • Source is mandatory - always add in the notes where you got your data from (I've done that for format, ISBN, price)
  • Image: copied URL from Amazon.com - check the rule for how to do that.

It is a good idea to check the information through the links provided in the welcome message above. If you'd have any further questions, do not hesitate to reach out to us on the Moderators, help desk or community portal pages. Regards, MagicUnk (talk) 10:36, 10 November 2022 (EST)

Strange Horizons, 2 March 2020

I had to reject this one. We handle genre magazines differently than books - if a magazine is considered genre (and Strange Horizons definitely is), we index everything inside, regardless if it is genre related or not.

I also noticed that you tried to remove the page number while changing it - without it the order in the magazine will get broken (no page number sends a title at the top). If we have missing pieces of art from that issue, add them as separate entries but please do not remove ones that are already there - they need to be there. Thanks and let me know if you have any questions. Annie (talk) 15:28, 12 April 2023 (EDT)

Thanks, Annie, got it. A question though: how do I add the art DAPENHA did do for the issue (the illustration for "Rat and Finch are Friends", same title)? All the other illustrations for Strange Horizons are listed as "interior art", not cover, but I was unsure of how to the actual interior cover if we also keep the example pieces in her interview. Apparition Literary Magazine

When you have questions such as this one, post it on the Community board so people can assist you - sending it as an edit means that just one moderator will see it.

The answer is that it depends:

  • If they effectively form a webzine issue, you start a second magazine record for each of the webzine issues, form a series of them and then connect the two series/magazines via the notes or via a common parent.
  • If they are just posted on the site randomly, they are not eligible to be added under the current rules of acquisition.

Let me know if you have any additional questions. Annie (talk) 15:32, 12 April 2023 (EDT)

Got it, thank you! Alittlebook (talk) 19:08, 12 April 2023 (EDT)

Partial contents

When adding partial content to a magazine or a collection/anthology, always add the incomplete template into the notes. That will allow for other editors to know that there are missing pieces that still need adding. We do not use it for empty issues because we can find these easily but once you add one story and you know that more are eligible to be added, we need the template. See how I added it here: click edit and see the text in the Notes field to see how this text is produced. Thanks! Annie (talk) 15:35, 12 April 2023 (EDT)

Got it, thanks! Alittlebook (talk) 19:09, 12 April 2023 (EDT)
