There is no publication date inside this book. This is 4th printing (0 9 8 7 6 5 4), copyright 2002 by David G. Hartwell and Kathryn Cramer; edited by Patrick Nielsen Hayden. On the back of the title page there are ISBN numbers for both hardcover and pbk editions.

Publisher's site gives the publication date as October 2003

In the Copyright Acknowledgements, p. 7, the first publication of "Sexual Dimorphism" by Kim Stanley Robinson is given as Asimov's Science Fiction, October/November 1999 while ISFDB data points to Asimov's Science Fiction, June 1999 and this June date is confirmed by many Internet sources including:

In this edition, titles are written (Copyrights, Contents, story notes) with prepositions like and upon lowercase, i.e.: Think like a Dinosaur, Built upon the Sands of Time. On the story's title page and page tops, titles are all caps. This is different from Hartwell's earlier anthology: in Year's Best SF 6 we find Built Upon the Sands of Time.

Every story is preceded by a note, 1/2 - 1 1/2 pages long.
