If you are entering information for a book for which other editions already exist in the ISFDB, you can save some time on data entry by using the "Add Publication to this Title" feature.  First, display the title and click on the "Add Publication to this Title" link in the left navbar.  This will display a publication record which you can fill out.  Once you've submitted this new record, and a moderator has approved it, the title will automatically be merged with the title you were displaying.

However, when adding a publication in this way, you do not have the opportunity to add or edit any contents. If the book you are entering is a novel, this doesn't matter; but if you are entering an anthology, or a collection, or anything with contents, this will only partly create the publication -- you must still create the contents records.  You can do this by editing the new publication, once you've created it, and adding each required content record.

Once your submission has been approved and the new publication has been added to the database, you will need to merge newly entered Contents titles with pre-existing title records (if there are any.) If the contents of your publication are almost identical to the contents of an existing publication, you can clone the existing publication instead and then remove any title records that do not exist in your publication.

Alternatively, you can clone the publication, if the copy you have is almost identical to the contents of an existing publication.  This is likely to be the quicker method if the contents are very similar.

If you are entering a new publication for which other editions already exist in the ISFDB, you can save some time on data entry by using the "Add Publication to this Title" feature. First, display the main title record in the publication and then click on the "Add Publication to this Title" link in the left navigation bar. This will display an empty publication record form which you can fill out. Once you've submitted this new record and a moderator has approved it, the new publication record will be automatically linked to the title that you were displaying. For detailed help on the fields on this screen, see the Edit Publication help.
