Herb Kauderer is an associate professor of English at Hilbert College outside Buffalo, NY. He has a PhD in Transnational Studies from the University at Buffalo where his genre-related dissertation was titled 'Conspicuously Canadian: Canadian Identity in Anglo-Canadian Science Fiction.' Among his other six degrees, he holds an MFA in Creative Writing/Screenwriting from Goddard College (2007) which included a genre-related thesis screenplay titled 'The Elephant's Ghost.'

His poem "After" won the 2016 Asimov's Readers' Award. He has also been a finalist for the Analog AnLab Readers' Award and the Elgin Award. He has also been nominated repeatedly for the Pushcart Prize, the Rhysling Award, and the Dwarf Star Award.
