Welcome!

Hello, Vanguard3000, and welcome to the ISFDB Wiki! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

Note: Image uploading isn't entirely automated. You're uploading the files to the wiki which will then have to be linked to the database by editing the publication record.

Please be careful in editing publications that have been primary verified by other editors. See Help:How to verify data#Making changes to verified pubs. But if you have a copy of an unverified publication, verifying it can be quite helpful. See Help:How to verify data for detailed information.

I hope you enjoy editing here! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will insert your name and the date. If you need help, check out the community portal, or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! -- JLaTondre (talk) 10:28, 24 December 2023 (EST)

The Santaroga Barrier

I accepted your addition of The Santaroga Barrier, but had to make some changes:

  • The preview was for the 8th printing. We date each printing separately. 1968-10-00 was for the first printing. As there is not a date specific to this printing, we use 0000-00-00 for unknown.
  • The price should always include the currency symbol.
  • External IDs should be specific to the edition and printing being entered.

We appreciate your submission & hope you will continue to contribute. ISFDB has some conventions that need learning so please check out the help links in the welcome message above. And let us know if you have any questions (ISFDB:Help desk is a good resource for asking). -- JLaTondre (talk) 10:42, 24 December 2023 (EST)

Spells and Chrome

I accepted your addition of Spells and Chrome:

  • I switched the image to Amazon.com as the provided image link was not one we have permission to use. We can only use images from sites that have explicitly given us permission to do so. See ISFDB:Image linking permissions for a list of such sites.
  • You marked the it as a transient verification which means you have a physical copy of the book. As such, please fill in the page numbers.
  • You dated the publication to the day. The day is not typically listed in a book. If you are using a secondary source (I notice the date matches Amazon), you need to specify the source in the pub notes (ex. "Date of publication from Amazon.com as of 2023-03-02").
  • Please double check the spelling of the author of "Fade Away". The other editions have "Steven" instead of "Steve".

Thanks. -- JLaTondre (talk) 11:31, 2 March 2024 (EST)

The Scar

I have rejected your submission as there are several issues with it:

  • When adding a new edition/printing to an existing title, you have to use either "Clone This Pub", or Add Publication to This Title" from the left-hand menu. Using "Add New xxx" requires additional edit steps, like merging the now-duplicate title.
  • No source given for this entry.
  • ISBN format incorrect for the date given - checking LookInside , it becomes clear that the Kindle ebook you (likely?) got the information from could not have been published in 2002 - rather, it is a subsequent revision (evidenced by the v3.1_r4 version number), with unknown publication date.

Please re-submit, taking into account above. Also, read through the material provided in the welcome message at the top of your talk page, or head over to the Help desk or Community portal and ask for help there. MagicUnk (talk) 08:30, 27 March 2024 (EDT)
