Welcome!

Hello, Ju00, and welcome to the ISFDB Wiki! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

Note: Image uploading isn't entirely automated. You're uploading the files to the wiki which will then have to be linked to the database by editing the publication record.

Please be careful in editing publications that have been primary verified by other editors. See Help:How to verify data#Making changes to verified pubs. But if you have a copy of an unverified publication, verifying it can be quite helpful. See Help:How to verify data for detailed information.

I hope you enjoy editing here! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will insert your name and the date. If you need help, check out the community portal, or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! MagicUnk (talk) 16:49, 20 December 2022 (EST)

The Mine

Hello,

When adding books to the DB, we need to record the source of the book. If you are adding from a book you are have and the details are coming from it, you can indicate that by selecting the correct checkbox in the New screen. I approved this one and added its ASIN, price, cover and publisher and a note for Amazon as a source. The result is here. Let me know if you have any questions! Welcome again! OK. Thanks! So if I add ASIN, price, cover, publisher and source it will take less time to be published? I don't see a way to edit my previous submissions. Do I have to just cancel them and redo it? Ju00 (talk) 21:42, 22 December 2022 (EST)
You just joined in a weird time - we had a huge backlog for awhile due to a combination of a very active editor whose submissions required a lot of work and moderators taking a break and we are still mopping up from that. And not all Moderators are comfortable working with new editors or with submissions that miss a lot of pieces. Stick around - we usually approve within a day or 2 (if not faster) but we are still catching up a bit so it may take a few more days to get back to normal.
Once submitted, a submission cannot be edited so for the ones on the board, you can either cancel and resubmit or just leave them (I will get to them tomorrow) and just keep all that in mind for future submissions. :) As long as your submissions going forward show progress, don’t worry for the old one, we will get them in. And don’t worry about missing some parts - we all take time to learn new things. So welcome again and don’t get discouraged from the current wait times. Annie (talk) 22:00, 22 December 2022 (EST)

How to Succeed in Evil

Hi, I accepted your submission, but there were several issues with it:

  • No source given (I updated based on Amazon's info)
  • Format: ebook,tp. Unknown is to be avoided
  • Publisher: name of author if self-published (which I think is the case here, no?)
  • Question: where did you get the 2006-00-00 publication date from?

Have a look: https://www.isfdb.org/cgi-bin/pe.cgi?68859

Do read through the introductory information provided in the welcome message above. It's a great source of info if you intend to contribute more to the ISFDB. Also, do not hesitate to head over to the Help Desk or Community Portal if you need help. Regards, MagicUnk (talk) 10:05, 6 January 2023 (EST)

Same for Just Plain Weird. Feel free to copy (and/or correct) this pub record, and create a tp version of it. Regards, MagicUnk (talk) 10:24, 6 January 2023 (EST)

The 2006 date comes from what is listed on goodreads: Published 2007 by good words (right order) (first published 2006). I assume the newer date you found is just the most recent version of the book the author published. It was also given the parsec award in 2006. Ju00 (talk) 15:37, 7 January 2023 (EST)
