Note: Image uploading isn't entirely automated. You're uploading the files to the wiki which will then have to be linked to the database by editing the publication record.

Please be careful in editing publications that have been primary verified by other editors. See Help:How to verify data#Making changes to verified pubs. But if you have a copy of an unverified publication, verifying it can be quite helpful. See Help:How to verify data for detailed information.

Piped sort numbers in page number field

Hi Interzone

I'm going to approve your edit updating Like Smoke, Like Light. I noticed that in the page number field you are appending a piped sort operator to each page number. Adding a sort to the page numbers isn't necessary if the page numbers themselves would place the contents in the correct order. It is useful when several contents items appear on the same page, or when the publication restarts numbering. Even in those cases, it only needs to be applied for items where it matters. Adding it to all page numbers will still cause the contents to be displayed in the correct order, but it makes it more difficult if we find new contents that should have been added or if the order is incorrect. In the future, it would be better if you just used the page numbers without the piped sort unless there is a specific need. Thanks and let me know if you have questions. --Ron ~ RtraceTalk 09:52, 15 December 2023 (EST)

Oh, that's good to know. Thanks, Ron --Interzone (talk) 01:30, 17 December 2023 (EST)

IZ Digital

I'm holding three edits that would remove $0.00 from the price field of IZ Digital issues. These are available for free are they not? -- JLaTondre (talk) 08:08, 23 December 2023 (EST)

Hello JLaTondre, sorry, I was removing those to make them consistent with the other IZ Digital issues I added. I wasn't sure if the convention for free issues was to leave the field blank, or add $0.00. Sounds like I should update the other issues so they all say $0.00...? --Interzone (talk) 15:52, 23 December 2023 (EST)
No price is used when the price is not known. When we know the price is free, it is best to use $0.00 (or whatever currency symbol is appropriate for the county of origin). It used to be the price would be left off for free items, but that left an ambiguity on whether it was free or the price was not known. So these days, we enter a $0.00 price. You will see some older records that have not been updated. Thanks. -- JLaTondre (talk) 07:42, 24 December 2023 (EST)
For Interzone I would think either £0.00 or €0.00 would be in order? MagicUnk (talk) 15:17, 4 April 2024 (EDT)
Sorting that out now... Thanks! --Interzone (talk) 15:53, 5 April 2024 (EDT)

The Hallowed Ken MacLeod

I've put your submission on hold. Can you clarify/confirm whether you are attributed as the interviewer in the publication itself? If not, and since we are recording information 'exactly as it appears in the publication', we would need to create a variant record, instead of changing the existing one. Thanks! MagicUnk (talk) 15:15, 4 April 2024 (EDT)

Hi MagicUnk, I've just grabbed my copy and it says 'Gareth Jelley' on the first page of the interview, (p. 124). The interview is missing from the contents page, but there is a credit, in the publication itself. I'll update the record for the print edition with page numbers as soon as I get chance. --Interzone (talk) 19:37, 4 April 2024 (EDT)
Thanks for the confirmation. Approved! If you feel like it, you could add this explanation into the notes. ;) MagicUnk (talk) 06:03, 5 April 2024 (EDT)
Sure thing. I've added page numbers in this edit and a note in this one. Almost all the illustrations aren't listed; haven't added those yet. And there's a comic strip on the very last page. Not sure how that would be listed...a story? --Interzone (talk) 13:43, 5 April 2024 (EDT)
Looks good! Concerning the comic - we do not catalogue comics. It could be added as interior art but if it's not from a known artist, or is not illustrating any story, I'd not enter it in the Contents, but add notes instead. MagicUnk (talk) 15:31, 7 April 2024 (EDT)
Noted, thanks! --Interzone (talk) 15:32, 7 April 2024 (EDT)

Three Eight One

Regarding this submission: Variants are for the same work published under a different title or credit. Variants are not used for variations in the work. If the corrections are minor, then the two records should be merged and a title note added stating that the second appearance was corrected (preferably with some description of what was corrected). If the differences are substantial, then they would be left as two separate records with title notes added to both. -- JLaTondre (talk) 14:10, 4 May 2024 (EDT)

Thanks for the info. How do I merge the two records? The earlier version of the review was truncated due to a production error. The newer version is the complete review. --Interzone (talk) 09:58, 5 May 2024 (EDT)
I think I figured it out here:, thanks again. --Interzone (talk) 10:04, 5 May 2024 (EDT)
I approved the edit and then added a title note. Feel free to adjust the note if you want. -- JLaTondre (talk) 13:19, 5 May 2024 (EDT)
