Welcome!

Hello, Evil Overlord, and welcome to the ISFDB Wiki! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

Note: Image uploading isn't entirely automated. You're uploading the files to the wiki which will then have to be linked to the database by editing the publication record.

Please be careful in editing publications that have been primary verified by other editors. See Help:How to verify data#Making changes to verified pubs. But if you have a copy of an unverified publication, verifying it can be quite helpful. See Help:How to verify data for detailed information.

I hope you enjoy editing here! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will insert your name and the date. If you need help, check out the community portal, or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! BLongley 12:31, 19 May 2012 (UTC)

Metaphorosis: Best of 2016

Hello, I've rejected your submission on two grounds: 1) a series with presently one title is peraphs a bit "young" to be declared as such, 2) I know it's a bit misleading but, in the case of an ANTHOLOGY, the "authors" to be entered are in fact the editor(s), not the authors of the texts. Fair enough. Thanks. Evil Overlord 11:58, 7 May 2017 (UTC)

Metaphorosis: a collection of stories

Hello, I've approved your submission but added currency symbol. Hauck 18:59, 6 May 2017 (UTC)

Thanks. Evil Overlord 11:59, 7 May 2017 (UTC)

Regarding your question (which would better have been placed at the help desk, because placed with the notes to the moderator it's easily lost): If you'd like to try it, go on the editor's summary page, click 'Show all titles' on the left tool bar, and commence by clicking on the appropriate 2017 titles for the magazine (and submit the merge of the two). Thanks for contributing! Stonecreek 13:45, 7 May 2017 (UTC)

Shadow

Hello, I've approved your submission as (IMHO) a largely illustrated short story falls into our inclusion parameters (and set the Graphic flag to "No"). I've added an INTERIORART credit to Uwe Carow in order to proper credit him and the mandatory SHORTFICTION record corresponding to your text. Hauck 13:46, 7 May 2017 (UTC)

Thanks. Much appreciated.Evil Overlord 14:04, 7 May 2017 (UTC)

Drive Like Lightning ... Crash Like Thunder

Hello, I've approved your submission for this publication but changed its type to COLLECTION (two and more short fictions) instead of CHAPBOOK (strictly on short fiction). I've also added the decimals for the price and merged the already existing texts. Hauck 13:52, 7 May 2017 (UTC)

Correction noted, thanks. Evil Overlord 14:05, 7 May 2017 (UTC)

Avoiding duplicates

Hello, to answer your question (how to avoid to create duplicates), one of the answers in the case of collections containing already existing-in-the-db materials is to create "partially void" publications (without entering the possible duplicates) then using the "Import content" function. To be frank (and IMHO), don't worry to much about duplicates. It's easier at first to enter the full contents and then proceed with the merges. This may even allow you to spot some errors (e.g. typos). Hauck 15:21, 7 May 2017 (UTC)

Thanks very much. Hadn't realized I was causing a mess. I did see some reference to codes in the form "{{a..." Should I look further into that, or is creating and then merging the way to go?Evil Overlord 15:29, 7 May 2017 (UTC)
For the time being, creating and eventually merging is simpler. You may even have this phase done for you by some moderators (I usually merge titles on the fly). Hauck 15:57, 7 May 2017 (UTC)
