Unmerging titles is used when you find that one or more of the publications recorded under a given title should have been under separate titles. For example, "Starswarm", by Brian Aldiss, was published both as by "Brian W. Aldiss" (the canonical form of his name), and as by "Brian Aldiss". If these publications were all listed under the same title, with "Brian W. Aldiss", this would be incorrect. The publication as by "Brian Aldiss" should have its own title, which should then be made a variant title of the canonical version.

To do this, display the title, and then choose "Unmerge Title" from the left navbar. The screen will display a list of titles, with checkboxes. Check the ones you want to make into separate titles, and hit submit.
