Welcome!

Hello, LeaSilhol, and welcome to the ISFDB Wiki! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

Note: Image uploading isn't entirely automated. You're uploading the files to the wiki which will then have to be linked to the database by editing the publication record.

Please be careful in editing publications that have been primary verified by other editors. See Help:How to verify data#Making changes to verified pubs. But if you have a copy of an unverified publication, verifying it can be quite helpful. See Help:How to verify data for detailed information.

I hope you enjoy editing here! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will insert your name and the date. If you need help, check out the community portal, or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome!

La sève et le givre

Hello, I've approved your submission for this publication. The result is here and the container title is here. I've made some adjustements to conform to the ISFDB standards : 1) the synopsis should be in english (I've deleted it), 2) the capitalization has been regularized as per the french usage (capitals on the first word and proper nouns) and not noosfère's, 3) price symbol added, 4) artist credited should only be the illustrator and not the designer or packager, I've retained (perhaps wrongly) only Ruby, 5) I've changed the format to tp as per dimensions (see the help page regarding the diverse formats that we use), 6) I've uploaded a scan using our procedures (via the "Upload new cover scan" link). Note that you're free to add the maximum of data (for example if it's the first printing or a reprint) in the "Note" fields (at tile and/or publication level). Thanks for contributing. Hi again : here, PfR is the author of the *inside illustrations*. Nearly all books by l'Oxymore (publisher) were loaded with inside illos.

Musiques de la frontière

Hello, I've approved your submission but made a few changes to conform to our standards: 1) french capitalization used (no capital on frontière, 2) price changed to "€21.30". Can you confirm that Frédérique Berthon is the cover artist and not the designer (noosfere gives only Djouad)? Please remmeber to enter the contents and add eventual notes. Hauck 17:51, 25 February 2016 (UTC)

Hallo' Hauck (is this the good way to answer to you?) : Fréderique Berthon is the author of the *inside* original illos (13 full pages).
The cover artist is Amar Djouad for this edition. Another edition (limited / collector) was issued, with a Sebastien Bermes cover, and the same inside full pages illustrations (one per story) by Berthon.
I'll list the content later, yep, but so much full books are missing right now that I'm beginning with this. Lotta work, little time! Cheers!
I've made the necessary modifications, result is here, there is for the time being only one INTERIORART record (titled as the book itself), if you wish to enter the 13 illustrations, it's possible but you'll have to give each of them the title of the story they illustrate (a bit like here). Hauck 18:23, 25 February 2016 (UTC)
Thanks Hauck! I added the list of the stories in the collection, as requested. Cheers.
Some points: 1) you're (for us at least) the sole author of the work, the paratext's authors are not credited at title level, 2) the short (non book-length) works are typed ESSAY, 3) the cover should only be credited to Djouad (Berthon has its own INTERIORART record but not for the cover), I've reverted your changes. To sign your post, you can use ~~~~. Hauck 19:11, 25 February 2016 (UTC)

La sève et le givre

Hello, I've approved your submission with a few modifications: publisher changed to Seuil, Publication series to "Points - Fantasy" (this one), price to "€7.10" (we use the american decimal separator). Result is here. Please note that in fact you should have used the "Add Publication to This Title" link at title level (here) in order to avoid to have two similarly titled works (I've merged them). Hauck 14:13, 26 February 2016 (UTC)

Thanks for the tip on "Add Publication to This Title", Hauck. I've been looking for such a tool without success!
I'll know what to do, now.

Contes de la tisseuse

Hello, I've approved your submission and made a few changes : 1) changed format to tp (by comparison with other titles in this series that I own) and 2) uploaded a "nicer" scan. I've also changed the date at title level from 2015 to 2000 (it's alas not automatic when you add an "older" publication, the previous date stays at title level). As you'll probably going to add the contents, the easier way (if they're the same) is to use the "•Import Content " link at publication level and use the top of screen by giving the ID of publication you wish to import from (in this case perhaps "560368", meaning that you want to import the contents from this pub). Hauck 10:31, 27 February 2016 (UTC)

Okay Hauck! I'll try this right now! cheers LS/. 10:45, 27 February 2016 (UTC)LeaSilhol
Edited the 2015 edition beforehand! Missing texts + wrong page numbers (confusion with the extended/collector 2015 edition). LS/. 11:12, 27 February 2016 (UTC)LeaSilhol

Le baiser de l'homme mort

Hello, I've approved your submisison but can you confirm that there is no price in Euros for this pub? I've also added the decimals and transfered the translator at title level. Hauck 12:19, 1 March 2016 (UTC)

I'll check this asap.LS/. 19:01, 1 March 2016 (UTC)

Just changed the price from FF to € for both editions. LS/. 19:16, 1 March 2016 (UTC)

Enterrer L'ombre/Exhumer l'ombre

Hello, I've approved your submission for both parts of the original novel, but deleted the synopsis as information for the translator should go at title level and the one about original title is superfluous (it will be evident when varianted to this title. The series data (here we're speaking of a fictive universe) should be given at the parent title level if necessary (we do not use this field to indicate a splitted novel in translation), I've adjusted the lot and varianted both parts, see here. Écrit avec du sang: 10 contes du vampire par Tanith Lee

Hello, I've approved your submission but made a few changes: authorship is to Lee alone (alas the conceptor of a COLLECTION has not his/her own field), I've deleted the (foreword) and (afterword) mentions (I suppose that the essays are not exactly titled this way), the INTERIORART entry should be titled as the book itself. There is now left to you the task to variant each french translation to its original counterpart. Result is here. Hauck 12:37, 1 March 2016 (UTC)

Well, I'm sorry, Hauck, but I don't agree. This is not a short stories collection (selected by the author) but an anthology (texts selected by one or several *editors*). An author is never his own editor on a COLLECTION, but the *Author (of the COLLECTION)*, period. I didn't select COLLECTION but ANTHOLOGY, and that's the reason why. An Anthology can be componed of texts by different authors *or* a single author, it doesn't matter. What qualifies a work for being an Anthology instead of a Collection is: did the texts' selection and architecture of the summary was done by the author herself/himself or... was it the work of someone else --- And this is not a French particularism, mind: I checked, and it's exactly the same in America. ;-)
Tanith didn't participate at all to the text's selection, and I listed her as co-editor only to reflect that all the fictions are hers, and that she approved my choices, (even if she told me, in the first place, that she trusted me do do as I'd see fit, without the need for her to approve, as the project was my idea). But to credit her as (only) "editor" would not reflect the facts, and would be a violation of my rights. Tanith was one of my closest friends, but I never go soft on the topic of Author's Rights. So... let me know if you stick to your position, despite the facts, now that I made them clear. In this case, I won't do the variant for each story, but instead I'll prefer to delete my work, for I can't violate the Paternity Rights of any author, even if this author is... myself. Dura Lex, sed Lex, etc. Regards, Hauck. LS/. 18:35, 1 March 2016 (UTC)
P.S / Food for thought : I just checked several bases, just to be sure : Noosfere, Wikipedia France, bdfi, but also Worldcat and the BNF (French National Library) are clear: this is an anthology, I'm the editor. Cheers.
I won't argue the differences between your and our relative definition (just for fun, note that you no more appear at title level here). The point you evoke is clearly defined here, see first bullet and here for ISFDB's definition of a COLLECTION or an ANTHOLOGY. If you don't want to collaborate with us, no problem (note that vastly more prolific editors than you are subject to the same treatment, be they french or else like Paul Williams here or Marianne Lecomte here). Just in case, I may just suggest you to go to the Moderator Noticeboard stating your case. Also note that we believe that bibliographic information is free and such tactics of obstruction are helplessly outmoded. I will variant the titles myself. Hauck 19:26, 1 March 2016 (UTC)

It's your choice to disrespect the facts, and *work* of others, in the name of a very unrealistic point of view. By doing this, you stole my work *twice*: one with this unlawful denying of credits, and another in keeping the data I provided after defacing them. Bibliographic information should be free, indeed, as long as it's *accurate*, and your inner politics don't have, imho, any right to transform reality at your will. I came here, at first, to correct massive errors in your data (names wrongly spelled over and over, etc.) but if, indeed, there are numerous anthologists more prolific than m (petty petty, btw), this Base, likewise is just one among scores of them, many of them being much more modern and *respectful of the authors*. I lost, through your good offices, Hauck, all respect for this one. I won't comment your absurd and surrealstic accusation of "tactics of obstruction". It doesn't make any sense. Olde 60' paranoia? If you have some good taste and manners, you will at least erase the mention of "primary verification" by _me_. Because it's absolutely false that I "verified" these wrong data, that you edited and retained against my will. #NotInMyName, thank you. Don't bother to answer me, for, indeed, I won't lose more time in this kafkaian enterprise. I wish you a huge good time in publishing errored data. Bye now

As usual, you're making a fool of yourself, but that's to except of your public personna. Bye and good riddance.Hauck 12:36, 25 March 2018 (EDT)
