Welcome!

Hello, PeterKlancic, and welcome to the ISFDB Wiki! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

Note: Image uploading isn't entirely automated. You're uploading the files to the wiki which will then have to be linked to the database by editing the publication record.

Please be careful in editing publications that have been primary verified by other editors. See Help:How to verify data#Making changes to verified pubs. But if you have a copy of an unverified publication, verifying it can be quite helpful. See Help:How to verify data for detailed information.

I hope you enjoy editing here! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will insert your name and the date. If you need help, check out the community portal, or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! BLongley 14:38, 16 July 2011 (UTC)

SF Impulse, August 1966

A record for this issue already exists in the database. The difference between your submission and the current record was the title of the magazine: Impulse v. SF Impulse. A scan of the cover shows it to be the latter. Thanks. Mhhutchins 15:28, 27 July 2011 (UTC)

The Stainless Steel Rat Wants You

I think we already have that edition here? BLongley 19:14, 5 August 2011 (UTC)

Analog, May 1962 [UK]

I'm holding a submission to add a new essay content to this issue. Is this a new essay or just the continuation of the essay that starts on page 2? Does it have a new title page and should be considered a different essay? Ordinarily we don't create a new record for the continuation of a piece later on the same issue. Thanks. Mhhutchins 18:53, 11 August 2011 (UTC)

It is a continuation - I won't add these in future. PeterKlancic 09:56, 12 August 2011 (UTC)

Analog, June 1962 [UK]

I'm holding a submission to update this issue pending the answering of a few questions.

  1. You added the cover artist credit as "Thomas". Is this credited in the pub itself?
Yes - "Cover by Thomas" I cant scan anything at the moment 'til I put my system back in the right place.
  1. Is the new content essay titled "Utopian Voters (continued)" (page 118) actually a new essay, credited as such on its title page and on the issue's content page?
No - I won't do this in future.
  1. The interiorart credit matches those from the original US edition from which the story was reprinted (Analog, Feb 1962. They are credited to Schoenherr in that record. Are they credited here? (You can credit a piece with an artist signature as well as a stated credit.) We don't use "unknown" unless the piece's authorship is actually unknown by the editor or publisher of the publication. In cases where the artist is not credited we use "uncredited".
I realised later I should have put "uncredited". I've just been thro' this issue again and can't see any attributions other than Schoenherr.
  1. Leaving blank dates in a content record's date field will make the system automatically date it the same as the pub record, which is convenient in most cases. Here, because this is not there original publication, they will have to be fixed. I'm going to merge the records with the original records which will give them the date of those records.
I left them blank because I had read that they may come from various issues of Analog US. Since I don't have them I didn't feel able to put the dates in.

Thanks for contributing. Mhhutchins 19:08, 11 August 2011 (UTC)

Analog, January 1962 [UK]

The submission adding this publication was accepted. I'm going to merge the contents with the records for their original publication which will adjust the dates of each. My question is concerning the essay on page 127. Ordinarily we don't create different records is a piece is continued later on in the same issue. Are you certain that this is a new essay and warrants a new record? Thanks. Mhhutchins 19:12, 11 August 2011 (UTC)

Serials should be entered using this format: TITLE (Part x of y). So I'll adjust the Harrison serial's title to "Sense of Obligation (Part 1 of 3)". Mhhutchins 19:13, 11 August 2011 (UTC)
I have a tendancy to pedantry - I entered what it said! PeterKlancic 10:34, 12 August 2011 (UTC)
Is "Science Fantasy" credited to "John W. Campbell" or "The Editor"? Mhhutchins 19:15, 11 August 2011 (UTC)
The Editor - Sorry. PeterKlancic 10:34, 12 August 2011 (UTC)
Is "Fifty Per Cent Prophet" credited to Darrel T. Langart or Darrell T. Langart? Mhhutchins 19:29, 11 August 2011 (UTC)
The former. PeterKlancic 10:34, 12 August 2011 (UTC)
