A Dança dos Ossos

Hello. I have your submission on hold, as I couldn't figure out whether these stories contain speculative fiction elements or not. If not, this anthology does not belong in the ISFDB. Could you therefore confirm that (the majority of) these Gothic stories are not merely 'regular' horror, but do contain spec fic elements ? (ghosts, levitation, supernatural beings,...). Thanks! MagicUnk 06:29, 24 August 2020 (EDT)

Hello. This is mainly an anthology of Gothic Fiction written by brazilian and portuguese writers. More than half feature speculative elements. A brief overview:
# Title Speculative Elements
1 O Defunto Yes. Undead. Divine intervention.
2 A Dama Pé-de-Cabra Yes. Supernatural beings.
3 A Caveira No.
4 A Torre Derrocada Yes. Supernatural beings.
5 O Mistério da Árvore Yes. Fantasy setting.
6 O Corvo No.
7 A Feiticeira Yes. Witches and devils.
8 A Morta Yes. Undead.
9 Os Canibais Yes. A living statue.
10 Uma Récita do Roberto do Diabo No.
11 O Cadáver No.
12 Sede de Sangue Yes. Vampires.
13 A Estranha Morte do Prof. Antena Yes. Parallel universes.
1 Noite na Taverna No.
2 A Dança dos Ossos Yes. Ghosts.
3 Os Porcos No.
4 Acauã Yes. Spirits.
5 Violação No.
6 Maibi No.
7 Assombramento Yes. Ghosts.
8 11 e 20 Yes. Ghosts.
9 Demônios Penty of weird elements (revealed to be a dream though...)
10 O Defunto No.
11 A Causa Secreta No.
12 O Bebê de Tarlatana Rosa No.
13 Confirmação Yes. Spiritism. Ghosts.
14 Os Olhos que Comiam Carne Yes. Science fiction (x-ray vision).
After the approval, I'll add additional information to each story (original publication, etc.), and label the ones without speculative elements as non-genre if needed. Thank you. Vampiregrave 14:00, 24 August 2020 (EDT) 13:59, 24 August 2020 (EDT)
I've approved your submission. There are, however, a couple of corrections you'd still have to make:
* replace the cover art link with either a URL of a web page from a site we have permission to link to, or you can upload an image yourself and link to that instead (let me know if you are unclear how to do that)
* titles are normalized. This means that you have to follow the (Brazilian) Portuguese rules of title capitalization - all words capitalized is generally only for English titles
And if you feel like it, also add tags to the individual stories (for those that are spec fic anyway) per your table above (that I've properly formatted for you :). Regards, MagicUnk 09:27, 25 August 2020 (EDT)
Thank you. Regarding the corrections you requested:
«replace the cover art» - Done. Waiting for approval.
«titles are normalized. This means that you have to follow the (Brazilian) Portuguese rules of title capitalization» - This anthology was published in European Portuguese. In Portugal we usually capitalize the first letter in each word (you can even check the book's table of contents here http://e-primatur.com/assets-uploads/1586792948_UeqvUI281vmndbX6jj4.pdf ). That said, I can edit the titles if needed.
«And if you feel like it, also add tags to the individual stories» - Yes, I'll add additional information whenever possible, beginning with the tags. I'm still getting familiar with the ISFDB's interface and guidelines. Vampiregrave 15:44, 25 August 2020 (EDT)
Thanks. Regarding the cover art, I haven't seen an update for the cover art yet... let me know if you want me to take care of that one. Concerning the title capitalization - see these discussions
From this information it is clear that Title capitalization is to be in the language's standard. If you know the official rules for Portuguese (which, from your comment above, I assume is 'word capitalization'?), could you add them to the Title_Regularization talk page (link above)?
And don't worry, you're doing fine :) As you may've already guessed, editing the ISFDB needs some getting used to ... MagicUnk 06:47, 26 August 2020 (EDT)
