Welcome!

Hello, Rolanni, and welcome to the ISFDB Wiki! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

Note: Image uploading isn't entirely automated. You're uploading the files to the wiki which will then have to be linked to the database by editing the publication record.

Please be careful in editing publications that have been primary verified by other editors. See Help:How to verify data#Making changes to verified pubs. But if you have a copy of an unverified publication, verifying it can be quite helpful. See Help:How to verify data for detailed information.

I hope you enjoy editing here! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will insert your name and the date. If you need help, check out the community portal, or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! --MartyD 18:33, 13 April 2013 (UTC)

Carousel Sun

I had to reject your addition of Carousel Sun as that publication is already present in the database (see this record). When adding a new pub, it best to search on the ISBN to see if it is already present before adding. Please let us know if you have any questions. Thanks. -- JLaTondre (talk) 22:55, 6 March 2014 (UTC)

Necessity's Child

When modifying books that have been primary verified, it is our policy that the editor making the change notify the primary editor. This ensures that we catch errors when editors are working from different printings and avoids personality conflicts between editors. While it might seem overkill for minor changes, we have found it makes things work smoother.

In this case, I have gone ahead and notified the applicable editor for you. Thanks. -- JLaTondre (talk) 00:00, 7 March 2014 (UTC)

Carousel Tides

I rejected this edit as submitted, but made a different update to accomplish the same thing. Since the mass-market was credited to "Eric Williams" (disambiguated as "Eric Williams (artist)" since we have multiple Eric Williams in the database), I matched that credit vs. the "Eric L. Williams" in your edit. I also added a note to the publication that captures the information in your note to the moderator (i.e. it was an error that was fixed in the mass-market).

Since your edit also pointed out that "Eric Williams (artist)" and "Eric L. Williams" are the same person (and we have credit under both), I've created a pseudonym relationship between the two and combined all his works under "Eric Williams (artist)" (as that is the bulk of the credits).

Thank you for letting us know of this problem. It is appreciated. Let me know if you have questions. -- JLaTondre (talk) 00:11, 7 March 2014 (UTC)

Award Information

With respect to your question in the "Note to Moderator" on your Pilots Choice update: Awards are entered on the title record, not the publication record. The title record lists all publications of a given title (as an example: Local Custom). See Help:Screen:AddAward for more information.

Unfortunately, ISFDB only supports a specific set of awards at the moment. Neither the Prism Award or the Romantic Times Book Club Reviewers Choice for Best Science Fiction Novel are currently among them. So for now, I have captured it in your bibliographic comment's page on the wiki. If the sofware is expanded in the future, we can then add them to the database. Let me know if you have questions. Thanks. -- JLaTondre (talk) 01:01, 7 March 2014 (UTC)
