Very minor changes to The Spy Who Haunted Me

Made some very minor changes to Notes for The Spy Who Haunted Me -- added link to OCLC, added link to archived publisher's page, noted that "Secret Histories, bk 3" appeared on copyright page (as opposed to title page. BungalowBarbara 05:40, 13 August 2016 (UTC)

Farscape magazine

Hello again. I did what you asked (here), but meanwhile you seem to have submitted your own edits of the other two issues. I have put these submissions on hold for the moment. As I'll be unavailable until tomorrow, I think the best thing for you to do is to transfer some of the data to the pub records I have created, change whatever has to be changed, and than cancel the other submissions. Linguist 20:09, 1 September 2016 (UTC).

I deleted the ones I added and have edited the ones you added to include the stories Susan O'Fearna 21:22, 1 September 2016 (UTC)
OK. Don't forget to PV them, as you said you owned them. One other thing : either these magazines are entirely genre, or they aren't. If they are, you would have to add their whole contents. If not, you should mark them as "non-genre". Thanks, Linguist 08:32, 2 September 2016 (UTC).
I think I've done all this correcly Susan O'Fearna 18:24, 2 September 2016 (UTC)
Perfect, thanks ! Linguist 08:38, 3 September 2016 (UTC).

The Big Book of Science Fiction e-book ISBN

Hi. I accepted The Big Book of Science Fiction, but the ISBN came up with a checksum error. I found the same number with -8 instead of -2 in the Look Inside on Amazon, so I corrected (I hope) it to that. --MartyD 01:27, 13 September 2016 (UTC)

cool, thanks Susan O'Fearna 10:06, 13 September 2016 (UTC)

Page numbers in unpaginated pubs

Hi. For White Sand, where the pages are not numbered, the content page numbers should be given in square brackets, too, not just the page count. I updated them, so just something to keep in mind for the future. Thanks. --MartyD 01:49, 13 September 2016 (UTC)

I just copied what was there for the publisher's edition.. Thanx Susan O'Fearna 10:07, 13 September 2016 (UTC)

SFBC Hell's Foundations Quiver

Sorry, my night for filling up your talk page.... Hell's Foundations Quiver came through as information-from-another-source, but the notes sure sound like you have the book, so I figured I'd mention it. --MartyD 02:02, 13 September 2016 (UTC)

Killing Titan, too. --MartyD 02:05, 13 September 2016 (UTC)

I'll go add notes. Susan O'Fearna 10:07, 13 September 2016 (UTC)

The Regional Office Is Under Attack!

I have your submission on hold that would change The Regional Office Is Under Attack! from a retail edition to an SFBC edition. What I see on Amazon makes me think the hardcover record is ok, and maybe you meant to clone + edit instead of editing in place? Thanks. --MartyD 10:34, 13 September 2016 (UTC)

D'OH meant to click clone, not edit Susan O'Fearna 16:53, 13 September 2016 (UTC)

The Bye-Bye Man & Something Wicked

I have your edits to add The Bye-Bye Man and Other Strange-but-true Tales and Something Wicked: A Ghost Hunter Explores Negative Spirits on hold. Both of these seem to be non-fiction books regarding 'true' ghost stories. As such they would not be illegible for inclusion. Am I missing something? Thanks. -- JLaTondre (talk) 02:33, 22 September 2016 (UTC)

To be honest, I wasn't sure about Something Wicked, but The Bye-Bye Man is more fiction than true and his other "strange-but-true" book was already in here. I'll cancel Something Wicked, but ... ah, dagnabbit, the author's wrong it should be Robert Damon Schneck and his other book is Mrs. Wakeman vs. the Antichrist and Other Strange-but-True Tales from American History. Susan O'Fearna 06:25, 22 September 2016 (UTC)
I've gone ahead and accepted it. -- JLaTondre (talk) 16:02, 23 September 2016 (UTC)
Thanks Susan O'Fearna 17:07, 23 September 2016 (UTC)

Security

Hello, I've put your submission on hold. Can you confirm that there are indeed speculative fiction elements in the book (the publisher's page doesn't clearly mention any). Thanks. Hauck 06:19, 22 September 2016 (UTC)

According to the reviews I've read it *is* mostly a run-of-the-mill slasher story (direct quote), but they both also say it is a horror/science horror (whatever that means) and I thought it should be in here... Susan O'Fearna 06:33, 22 September 2016 (UTC)
OK, approved. Hauck 06:37, 22 September 2016 (UTC)
Thanks -- the review I'll be adding explains "Science Horror" -- some the p-o-v is from the security cameras themselves! Susan O'Fearna 06:47, 22 September 2016 (UTC)

Sci Fi; #20.4 -- Oct 2014

Re-hello Susan, in the case of non-genre magazines, we only enter SHORTFICTION texts but never ESSAY or REVIEW. In this case, perhaps should the whole magazine considered as genre. Note also that you have one review not linked. What are your thoughts on the matter? Hauck 06:51, 22 September 2016 (UTC)

Same problem with Rue Morgue. Hauck 06:52, 22 September 2016 (UTC)

I'm not entirely sure what your question is ?
I only added that articles about the author (mostly the magazine focuses on movies, then has a section on comics -- Blood in Four Colors -- then books -- The Ninth Circle -- and then horror music then video games, but every once in a while they'll focus on authors (this one was Shirley Jackson, a couple months ago it was Joe Hill, we see H.P. Lovecraft quite often...
Also, for the reviews I try to leave out the books that are patently not spec-fic (like Death by Unbrella! The Weirdest Horror Movie Weapons, Morbid Curiosities: Collections of the uncommon and the Bizarre and Italian Horror Cinema from this issue
I did have a question about "A Touch of Death" -- it may be more of a review for Lily by Michael Thomas Ford Susan O'Fearna 06:58, 22 September 2016 (UTC)
Ah... I don't know why The Graveyard Book vol 1 didn't link Susan O'Fearna 07:06, 22 September 2016 (UTC)
Sorry not to have been clearer. In fact a "nongenre" magazine entered in the ISFDB should only contain SHORTFICTION items (no REVIEWS, no ESSAY are allowed) so in this case the whole issue(s) should not have been entered at all. Hauck 07:08, 22 September 2016 (UTC)
So, no Essays/reviews justify adding the mag. I guess Sci Fi and both of the Rue Morgue 's I've added need to be cancelled/deleted Susan O'Fearna 07:11, 22 September 2016 (UTC)
Exactly. I'm going to do this (it will quicker as there are quite a lot of deletions to do). Hauck 07:19, 22 September 2016 (UTC)
thanks Susan O'Fearna 17:07, 23 September 2016 (UTC)

The Crow

Hi. I have a submission of yours on hold for an update to The Crow, but the submission contains no changes. I don't know what you were trying to do, but if you can remember, you should cancel that reminder and re-submit. --MartyD 11:18, 4 October 2016 (UTC)

I was trying to make the title show up under the cover illustrations by Ron Walotsky... can't figure out why it's not there. Susan O'Fearna 11:19, 4 October 2016 (UTC)
Hmm. That's strange. I see it (about 13 titles up from the Interior Art section). You might have to get Ahasuerus to take a look at it -- there's nothing odd looking about the record. --MartyD 01:21, 5 October 2016 (UTC)
I managed to get it fixed... the Ron Walotsky cover *was* varianted to the original Barr cover, so I moved the parent... Susan O'Fearna 05:24, 5 October 2016 (UTC)

Adding cover art

Hello Susan. I've approved your numerous addition of Sam Weber credits. Just FYI, instead of adding the title (that would have to be merged afterwards), it may prove quicker (if the title is already existing) to import it into the publication (via "Import Content" and with the artwork titleID as parameter). This wil save the merging phase. Hauck 06:38, 6 October 2016 (UTC)

I'll try that... Susan O'Fearna 06:43, 6 October 2016 (UTC)
well, that didn't work... Susan O'Fearna 06:51, 6 October 2016 (UTC)
I wasn't detailed enough (and the screen is not that clear). You should use only the bottom of the screen "Individual Title" and enter here the TitleId of thecover (e.g. 2065862 for There Once Lived a Woman Who Tried to Kill Her Neighbor's Baby: Scary Fairy Tales) and click on the "Import Titles" button. Hauck 06:58, 6 October 2016 (UTC)
I think I figured it out :D Susan O'Fearna 16:20, 7 October 2016 (UTC)

Pharoah Fantastic

Hello, can you check your verified Pharoah Fantastic and confirm if the title is indeed Pharoah Fantastic and not Pharaoh Fantastic (the cover seems to be saying Pharaoh Fantastic). If it had been a type, the introduction name also will need adjustment. If the title page really has it misspelled, maybe a note to indicate that is in order? Thanks Anniemod 07:43, 7 October 2016 (UTC)

I fixed it... Susan O'Fearna 16:23, 7 October 2016 (UTC)
Thanks :) Shouldn't the introduction on page 11 also has its name adjusted? Anniemod 18:05, 7 October 2016 (UTC)
Will do... Susan O'Fearna 18:21, 7 October 2016 (UTC)

Krozair von Kregen publisher

Hello Susan. I have approved your submission, but changed the publisher's name from "Heyne München" to just "Heyne", "München" (Munich) being the location of this publishing house; see here. Thanks, Linguist 09:06, 11 October 2016 (UTC).

A Distant Soil

Hello, Can you look at your verified A Distant Soil - the title and the publication title do not match. Can you add a note on why this is needed or fix one of them? Thanks Anniemod 02:04, 2 November 2016 (UTC)

12 Doctors 12 Stories

Hello Susan, there was a technical problem with your import operation for this anthology (message: "Error: This submission is no longer valid. Title 2083488 is no longer in the database" meaning that one of the imported was deleted or varianted in the meantime). I was forcde to Hard-Reject it, please resubmit. Hauck 06:44, 10 November 2016 (UTC)

Hervé beat me to it. There's another pub 11 Doctors 11 Stories from which you could import the contents, although Holly Black's story is the one not included. You'd have to add that manually. It's probably also worth checking the spelling of Malorie Blackman's story The Ripple Effecct (two c's) if you have the publication. PeteYoung 06:57, 10 November 2016 (UTC)
I'll go look at it Susan O'Fearna 19:00, 10 November 2016 (UTC)
Hello, Susan! I changed the author of The Mystery of the Haunted Cottage to Derek Landy (from Derek Landry). I also dropped the reader from this, as we only credit the author. Christian Stonecreek 09:07, 18 November 2016 (UTC)
cool, thanks Susan O'Fearna 06:39, 19 November 2016 (UTC)

Elfquest: Searcher and the Sword

Something I happened to randomly spot... I'm puzzled why your verified copy of [Elfquest: Searcher and the Sword has that form of the title when the cover says THE Searcher. Could you check the title page? And either correct the pub and title records or make a note if it‘s different from the cover? --Vasha 14:26, 22 November 2016 (UTC)

"What the Dormouse Said"

Hello Susan, I've rejected your submission that intended to change the title of this short story from "What the Dormouse Said" to "What" the Dormouse Said as this is not supported by my physical copy of the magazine. Please clear such proposed changes with the PVs beforehand. I've set the language to "English" for this title. Hervé Hauck 14:53, 30 November 2016 (UTC)

Cool, my note was that it was "What"... but when you put it on hold I was gonna go hunt down my physical copy. You saved me from that! :) Susan O'Fearna 16:25, 30 November 2016 (UTC)

Tomorrow Speculative Fiction, August 1995

Hi. Should the "Our Authors" and "Our Artists" in Tomorrow Speculative Fiction, August 1995 be ESSAY instead of SHORTFICTION? Also, is the Editorial on a page that is actually numbered 0? Thanks, --MartyD 02:15, 1 December 2016 (UTC)

I'm gonna check/verify (smirk) all 5 of my issues to make sure I got them all right, as soon as they're approved. Susan O'Fearna 02:23, 1 December 2016 (UTC)

Wonderworks

Hi, in checking through my copy of Wonderworks, I notice that the Whelan essay on p.13 is titled "Foreword" on its title page, not "Foreword by the Artist" as in the ToC. As one of the other three verifiers, could you check your copy to see if it's that way as well. If all four are the same the title could be changed at the title level and avoid removing, deleting and varianting. I've got the ok from my copy's prime verifier. Aria

Hello Susan, as you own the book can you confirm that it's not a comic or a graphic novel? My research is inconclusive. Thanks. Hauck 14:55, 11 December 2016 (UTC)

This particular "issue" is a chapbook. Not a comic, a square booklet bound with staples like a magazine, but thinner, like a comic and it's a short story with illustrations -- kind of like Gaiman's The Sleeper and the Spindle, but with, actually, fewer illustrations thank that particular chapbook. Susan O'Fearna 02:11, 12 December 2016 (UTC)
Thanks for the info. I've approved your submission and took the liberty to change your given "Brian Holquin" to "Brian Holguin". Hope that I was right. Hauck 07:11, 12 December 2016 (UTC)

"The Guardian of the Shrine", by Ardath Mayhar

You verified the 1994 edition of Mean Little Old Lady at Work: The Selected Works of Ardath Mayhar, which is listed as having a story titled "The Guardian of the Shrine". This story was reprinted as "The Guardians (plural) of the Shrine" in The Methodist Bobcat and Other Tales, 2010. I have set the later title to be a variant of the one you verified, but when you can it would be a good idea to check that this really is a variant, and not a typo. I've verified the plural title using the "Look Inside" feature in Amazon. Thanks, Chavey 06:01, 19 December 2016 (UTC)

TOC has plural; so does story... I'll go change it. Susan O'Fearna 22:41, 19 December 2016 (UTC)

Setting language

Hello Susan. As it seems that we're close to a global (programmatic) solution to the problem of languageless titles, perhaps should you slow down your rate of "English-izing" submissions. Thanks. Hauck 18:10, 21 December 2016 (UTC)

Will do... I'll stop right now :) Susan O'Fearna 18:11, 21 December 2016 (UTC)
