From the Legend of Biel
is the best science fiction I have read. The first section of 60 pages is interesting, the characters are somewhat the conventional types commonly portrayed in the genre, but the book takes a radical turn after this initial set up.
The first section is embedded in a 1975 idea of what the technological future may bring, but the balance of the book takes the reader to a (future?) time and place where a radically different concept of what it takes to achieve full human potential is portrayed compellingly. It is an unusual and uplifting tale.
