Welcome!

Hello, Flapco, and welcome to the ISFDB Wiki! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

Note: Image uploading isn't entirely automated. You're uploading the files to the wiki which will then have to be linked to the database by editing the publication record.

Please be careful in editing publications that have been primary verified by other editors. See Help:How to verify data#Making changes to verified pubs. But if you have a copy of an unverified publication, verifying it can be quite helpful. See Help:How to verify data for detailed information.

I hope you enjoy editing here! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will insert your name and the date. If you need help, check out the community portal, or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! MagicUnk (talk) 10:35, 18 January 2024 (EST)

Your submissions

Hello, and welcome to the ISFDB. I've accepted your submissions, but made a few changes:

  • Webpage with publication info should go into the publication record, not the title record.
  • Use period as decimal separator
  • Only link to cover if we have permission.

And if you intend to contribute more, do read through the links provided in the welcome message above. Regards, MagicUnk (talk) 10:37, 18 January 2024 (EST)

Ok thx, I submitted some more titles. Flapco (talk) 02:59, 25 January 2024 (EST)

Comment on pending edits

I realized made some mistakes while submitting new entries. My apologies for the inconvenience but. I can't seem to edit it anymore.

Storm 5.1 titel should be: 'Storm: Vertellingen van de ondergang'

Represaille, Maskerade, Het Doodschap, Leviathan, Schaduw van de Lahr Publisher should be 'Zilverspoor' instead of Zilverbron

Went through your submissions, accepted them, and corrected where needed. Some remarks:
  • If self-published, we add the author's name as publisher.
  • Hint: check 'De Nederlandse Bibliografie' for additional info and adding PPN external reference ID: https://picarta.oclc.org/psi/xslt/
  • Add date when you retrieved the information into the Notes field (if it's not on or in the book itself), eg. Data from publisher's website as of 2024-02-08 or some such.
  • Dutch capitalization rules apply: adjust if you encounter non-standard capitalization in Dutch titles.
  • Add covers by downloading them first (if we don't have permission to directly link to them), resizing to 600 pixels longest side, and then uploading onto ISFDB, and copying weblink (not mandatory, but nice). This is a two-step process; you need to have the publication record available before you can upload covers.
  • Hint: metadata.isbn.nl is an interesting resource for publication dates.
  • Concerning the storm title, that's a bit confusing, because the series title is Vertellingen van de ondergang, whereas the actual title is Storm: Geesten uit het verleden -- I've corrected that for you.
  • If you need to correct a mistake, you need to enter the data anew (you can use your browser's back arrow), and cancel your previous submission - see the My Pending Edits in the left-hand menu
  • Oh, and do sign with four '~' Thanks! MagicUnk (talk) 15:38, 8 February 2024 (EST)
Ok thx, I submitted some covers. Flapco (talk) 12:48, 9 February 2024 (EST)

Image License Tags

STOP! When you use 'upload cover scan' on a publication page, a license tag is automatically generated. Do not select another from the dropdown menu. Here is one of your uploads. It shows a complete tag plus an empty template. When trying something new, please look at the result before repeating. John Scifibones 08:42, 10 February 2024 (EST)

My apologies. Why is the license field there if it is not to be used? —The preceding unsigned comment added by Flapco (talkcontribs) 08:47, February 10, 2024‎
If you use the 'upload file' link on the wiki 'tools' menu, a tag is not automatically generated. Also, please sign all your posts, John Scifibones 08:50, 10 February 2024 (EST)
The extra tags have been removed. Each wiki page is linked to the publication and artist(if supplied). You still need to supply the image URL's to the publication records. For example:
  • Go to this cover. Right click the image and select 'Copy image link'.
  • Now select the green highlighted publication link Uitgeverij Boekscout 2023 tp. Edit the publication record and paste the URL into the 'Image URL field. and submit.
Repeat for all your uploaded images.
I understand your confusion re: the dropdown list. If you look at Upload file. The dropdown menu is a relatively recent addition. Previously, you selected the link Image License Tags from the first paragraph. Clicked on the desired tag, copied the template and pasted it into the 'Summary' field on the 'Upload file' page. You then filled in the appropriate information. The dropdown list avoids finding the appropriate template and the copy/paste operation. John Scifibones 10:55, 10 February 2024 (EST)
Oke. I have linked all images to the publications Flapco (talk) 02:30, 11 February 2024 (EST)
All have been approved. I also checked the upload log and removed any duplicate tags from earlier uploads. John Scifibones 09:42, 11 February 2024 (EST)

Eleonore

I'm temporarily holding this submission and this one. Are you sure they are 40,000 words or more? I approved a couple in the 130-150 page range, doublecheck those as well. Thanks, John Scifibones 14:59, 29 February 2024 (EST)

I am not sure. I also don't know how to check it without a copy, witch I do not have.Flapco (talk) 00:27, 1 March 2024 (EST)

Translators & prices

Hello. Quick reminder to not forget to add the translator (using the tr template) to the notes field of the title record. Also, Danish kroner are written as dkr, with space between dkr and price value. MagicUnk (talk) 12:15, 17 March 2024 (EDT)
