Welcome!

Hello, DMR, and welcome to the ISFDB Wiki! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

Note: Image uploading isn't entirely automated. You're uploading the files to the wiki which will then have to be linked to the database by editing the publication record.

Please be careful in editing publications that have been primary verified by other editors. See Help:How to verify data#Making changes to verified pubs. But if you have a copy of an unverified publication, verifying it can be quite helpful. See Help:How to verify data for detailed information.

I hope you enjoy editing here! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will insert your name and the date. If you need help, check out the community portal, or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! Mhhutchins 23:13, 11 January 2015 (UTC)

Your recent submissions

When adding a catalog number to the ISBN/Catalog # field, you must had the "#" before the number which indicates a non-ISBN catalog number. Also, in author credits there should be a space between initials. So "D.M. Ritzlin" and "E.C. Hellwell" should have been entered as "D. M. Ritzlin" and "E. C. Hellwell" respectively. I'll make the corrections. Thanks for contributing. Mhhutchins 23:16, 11 January 2015 (UTC)

Also, generic titles like "Introduction" should be disambiguated to avoid accidental merging with titles of the same name. Add the name of the publication parenthetically to the title, e.g. "Introduction (Swords of Steel)". Mhhutchins 23:18, 11 January 2015 (UTC)

You give the publisher's website as a source, but I was unable to find their website through Google. Please provide the URL in a response to this message. The listing on Amazon doesn't provide a publication date or a price so I need some corroborating source for the record. Thanks. Mhhutchins 23:21, 11 January 2015 (UTC)

The publisher's website is www.facebook.com/DMRBooks. As you might have guessed, I am the publisher. The book won't be out until February 21st. Is it ok to enter the information now, or should I have waited until it's released? DMR 15:48, 12 January 2015 (UTC)

Where the Lifestream Touches Eternity (Introduction)

Does Where the Lifestream Touches Eternity (Introduction) actually contain "(Introduction)" on the title page of the essay? If not, it should be removed. While, as described above, we disambiguate "Introduction" with the name of the book, if the introduction has a non-generic title, we list it as titled in the book. Thanks. -- JLaTondre (talk) 22:03, 27 February 2016 (UTC)

Swords of Steel III

I approved your edits to Swords of Steel III, but removed the pub series you added. The ISFDB differentiates publisher series (series like Ballantine Adult Fantasy) from title series (universe or groupings of books like Dune Universe). For this book, it would be a title series as that is already present at the title record. Thanks. -- JLaTondre (talk) 23:59, 21 May 2017 (UTC)

Cirsova Magazine of Thrilling Adventure and Daring Suspense

Hello, the title of the magazine suggests that not all of the items are speculative fiction, in fact the contents page advocates only one fantasy novelette. I have put the submission on hold as I wait for an answer. Stonecreek 14:21, 4 July 2019 (EDT)

Every single story in this issue is speculative fiction. DMR 10:59, 5 July 2019 (EDT)DMR

Thanks! Before I accept the submission and do the adaptation to our standards: It seems that this is a new magazine, since it was before 'Heroic Fantasy and Science Fiction Magazine'. Is this assumption correct? Stonecreek 15:04, 5 July 2019 (EDT)

No, it's the same magazine, they just changed the subtitle. That's why it's Vol. 2. DMR 11:48, 6 July 2019 (EDT)

Since the numbering starts anew and the title has somewhat changed we regard this as a new magazine (else our internal issue grid will look ominous); it'd still be possible to enter a parent magazine series 'Cirsova', subsuming both of them. Stonecreek 17:27, 6 July 2019 (EDT)
