Welcome!

Hello, CSF, and welcome to the ISFDB Wiki! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

Note: Image uploading isn't entirely automated. You're uploading the files to the wiki which will then have to be linked to the database by editing the publication record.

Please be careful in editing publications that have been primary verified by other editors. See Help:How to verify data#Making changes to verified pubs. But if you have a copy of an unverified publication, verifying it can be quite helpful. See Help:How to verify data for detailed information.

I hope you enjoy editing here! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will insert your name and the date. If you need help, check out the community portal, or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! BLongley 10:40, 4 Nov 2007 (CST)

Installing Linux on a Dead Badger

I've approved your submission, but are you sure we have permission to link to the cover-image you supplied? If not, we'll have to replace it with one we do have permission for, such as the one at Amazon. BLongley 11:01, 4 Nov 2007 (CST)

Hi, yes, I (you) do have permission from the author and publisher to use the cover art supplied ... what proof-of-permission do you need? CSF 21:06, 4 Nov 2007 (CST)
Well, nobody seems to be actively collecting proof-of-permission - I'll take your word for it and if there's any legal trouble I'll point their lawyers at you! ;-) This is just a reminder that you submitting inappropriate things could cause a spot of bother we don't really want, and it's best to make sure editors know as soon as possible. Best to check now rather than later, when there's possibly dozens of images to take down, one-by-one. (We don't have a big ZAP! button for such.) BLongley 13:25, 5 Nov 2007 (CST)

Doctor Who Short Trips: Destination Prague

When you entered this publication, I had to adjust a few things. One: the Image didn't work, we need a stable URL on a site we have permission to link to. Two, you don't need to put a COVERART record in as well as stating the cover author - this just leads to the Artist being doubled-up. Three, we need the 10-digit ISBN, we can't cope with the 13-digit one yet on entry - we automatically generate it from the 10-digit one. Four, we use abbreviations for the binding: hc for hardcover, tp for trade paperback, pb for paperback. All common starter mistakes, don't feel bad about it - thanks for editing! Hi, according to the OCLC record on the book (http://worldcat.org/oclc/163309092), the 10-digit ISBN is 1844352536
Good, I got that right then. BLongley 13:30, 5 Nov 2007 (CST)
The only cover I can find (the same one on the OCLC page) is at http://www.bigfinish.com/drwho_books/20-doctor-who---short-trips-destination-prague-433-p.asp CSF 21:03, 4 Nov 2007 (CST)
Not an image URL as such then... never mind, they're not essential and we can always add one later. The Amazon page invites people to upload their own, so all we need is someone with the book and a scanner and an Amazon account. BLongley 13:30, 5 Nov 2007 (CST)

Sparks and Shadows

If you have a physical copy of this book, can you check the ISBN? We need the 10-digit version, and the 13-digit one you supplied appears to be the one for Installing Linux on a Dead Badger? Also, same question about the artwork - do we have permission to link there? BLongley 12:36, 4 Nov 2007 (CST)

Hello, the ISBN in the physical copy of Sparks and Shadows I have is 978-0-9792346-1-3 ... according to the book's OCLC page (http://worldcat.org/oclc/150481595), the 10-digit ISBN is 0979234611 .... sorry for the confusion CSF 20:58, 4 Nov 2007 (CST)
That'll do nicely, thanks! BLongley 13:34, 5 Nov 2007 (CST)
