According to Julia Gaisser, The Fortunes of Apuleius & The Golden Ass, pp. 46-47 & 62-63, Oronzo Pecere has demonstrated that this manuscript "lacked one or more folios between the Metamorphoses and the Florida." She concludes that "either the beginning of the Florida or the end of the Metamorphoses or both are lost. Since the Metamorphoses seems complete as it stands, with Lucius' description of himself in his final incarnation as a priest of Isis, it is probably safe to conclude that the damage [to the Metamorphoses] was confined to the final [signature and dedication] ... although one must also confess that in a work of so many twists and turns as the Metamorphoses we might never suspect the loss of one more episode or even of a final surprising denouement."
