Sidney Hobson Courtier was best known as a writer of crime fiction, publishing 22 mystery/detective novels and 4 other novels. Many of his books incorporated Australian Aboriginal characters, ceremonies, customs, and language. He was educated at the Univ. of Melbourne, and worked for most of his life as a school teacher and principal in Victoria and Melbourne. Writing as 'Sidney Belgrave', 'Rui Chestor', 'Sidney Hobson', 'Colin Kingman', 'Raorut', and 'Turoar', he wrote over 200 articles and short stories for magazines and newspapers, including Argosy and Short Stories in the USA.
