Born in Sioux City, Iowa in 1953. Graduated from Central High in 1971. Joined U.S. Navy in 1972, served as a Opticalman until 1976. Went to art school at Minneapolis College of Art and Design until 1980. Started Banner Systems with Sandra Phelps (later to become Sandra Lenagh). Created Domino Chance comics with Sandra, published irregularly from 1981 through 1986. Started collaborating with David Brin on a Terragen Agent Handoook, based on Brin's Uplift series. David was writing the next three installments so initial writing as well as black and white illustration fell to Kevin. David did extensive editing through massive Fedex shipments back and forth from Minneapolis to California and back. "Contacting Aliens" took twelve years to reach the bookstands. Kevin then tackled editorial cartooning, doing a weekly cartoon strip paroding then-governor Jesse Ventura.
