Jean Brooks-Janowiak graduated from Mercy High School, Omaha, Nebraska, in 1973. She was a "Friend of the Convention" at the 1982 Nebraska Science Fiction Convention. She has also written romance books under the names Anne Merton Abbey and, with Janice Young Brooks, under the name Valerie Vayle.
