Andrés Vaccari was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 1971 and migrated to Sydney, Australia, in 1990. He has contributed extensively to various major Australian newspapers as a critic of literature, music, film and theatre. He has also published a few short stories and a novel, Robotomy (1997). He created Saturn Press and edited Abaddon: A Journal of the Imaginary (1997-2000).

Andrés has a PhD from the Department of Philosophy, Macquarie University. The thesis is on Descartes and the emergence of mechanical images of life in seventeenth-century natural philosophy, relating the technological culture of the baroque to current issues concerning posthumanism and biotechnology.
