Welcome!

Hello, WeAreGray, and welcome to the ISFDB Wiki! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

Note: Image uploading isn't entirely automated. You're uploading the files to the wiki which will then have to be linked to the database by editing the publication record.

Please be careful in editing publications that have been primary verified by other editors. See Help:How to verify data#Making changes to verified pubs. But if you have a copy of an unverified publication, verifying it can be quite helpful. See Help:How to verify data for detailed information.

I hope you enjoy editing here! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will insert your name and the date. If you need help, check out the community portal, or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome!Kraang 02:42, 18 December 2009 (UTC)

Torch of Freedom

This title and publication are already in the database, [here]. You can add the "First Edition" note to this record. Cheers! ~Bill, --Bluesman 12:01, 18 December 2009 (UTC)

David Weber

I rejected your edit to David Weber. Unfortunately, Wikipedia is one of the sites that will not let external sites directly link to their image files. Thanks. --Ron ~ RtraceTalk 13:47, 18 December 2009 (UTC)

Doctor's Orders

Thanks for adding the second printing. I adjusted it though - if we don't know the date of publication (either from the book or a reliable secondary source) we enter the date as "0000-00-00". I've also changed the cover image to a more generic one as the existing one had the old $4.50 price showing - please check it to see whether I've chosen a suitable one. Thanks for editing! BLongley 14:57, 30 January 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for the confirmation about the cover. You can add such messages to the same thread here rather than respond on my own page though, I've got your talk page on my watch list. I know this is different from some other site's Wiki practices, but here we find it easier to keep the conversation in one place. (Until it gets controversial and we move it to Rules and Standards or such - but guidance for new editors can normally be resolved quickly and easily.) BLongley 22:42, 30 January 2010 (UTC)
By the way, if the edition you entered now looks perfectly accurate, you can Primary Verify it. This gives us assurance that some human has actually checked a physical copy. Of course, humans being fallible, we now have the chance to Primary Verify five times per publication (I invented that as some humans just did a "yes, this book exists" verification and others wanted to confirm essays and interiorart and such above and beyond what the first verifier did). It might mean that people start to question you about a book you own and ask for more detail, but you do not have to respond to such if you don't want to. If you won't have the book in future, "Primary (Transient)" verification confirms a human has checked it, but they may not be able to check more details (for instance, if it was borrowed temporarily). Either type of verification helps us, so it's encouraged - but not demanded. BLongley 22:59, 30 January 2010 (UTC)

notes in Acorna's World

Hi. I approved your notes additions to Acorna's World, and I have a couple of suggestions for you:

  • If you are going to verify the publication, you don't need to say "My copy...". You can just state as fact that the wrong ISBN is on the back. :-)
  • I think it might be helpful to a future editor if you recorded the incorrect ISBN you see in the notes.

These are only suggestions, so do with them what you will. --MartyD 11:19, 2 February 2010 (UTC)

Starcraft Archive

Approved the edit for [this] but as you can see, the order of the editors/authors is still the same as before. If you want to change this order, I assume to match the title page in the book [that's what we use] you will have to change them in the Title record. First, from [this] page, select "Edit Title Data" from the editing tools, which will bring up [this] page. Do the changes and submit. Some of the fields in the publication records are really generated from the title record. Cheers! ~Bill, --Bluesman 20:27, 5 February 2010 (UTC)

Actually, there is no way to be sure the order of author/editor credits is preserved in ISFDB. Some edits may work like that, but Al never considered it important and none of the new developers have taken such a task on to guarantee such. It would be a massive amount of rework of existing titles for a start. Still, if people really desire it we can give it a go - we just need enough support for such a feature change. But at the moment "Pohl and Kornbluth" is as valid as "Kornbluth and Pohl", and "Kuttner and Moore" as valid as "Moore and Kuttner". And Editors of Collections are still left out in the cold, so Angus Wells is rather misrepresented here. Still, all such features are open for debate. (I'm more interested in crediting Editors of Collections better than getting the order of Co-Editors on Anthologies correct, but we all have our preferences.) BLongley 22:28, 5 February 2010 (UTC)
And here I thought I was giving such.... sage... advice! Oh, well, time for a different drawing board! ;-) ~Bill, --Bluesman 23:14, 5 February 2010 (UTC)

B5 Scripts, Vol. 1

Rejected your edit to change two of the contents to "Collections". Certainly neither should have been "Shortfiction" [no matter what the pictures were of... ;-)]. The photos should be entered as "Interiorart" and the memos probably as an essay or essays. ~Bill, --Bluesman 21:19, 5 February 2010 (UTC)

Voices

Have your submission on hold as I'm not sure which printing you have. You've verified the second printing, but added to the notes "Same data also applies to the fifth printing". If you have both printings you should create a new record for that printing by cloning the second printing and changing the note to read "5th printing by the number line". If you have just the fifth, still create the record and then verify that record. To respond to comments/notes on this page, just use the [edit] 'button' to the right of the particular comment you wish to respond to and add your comments below, indenting by using a colon. ~Bill, --Bluesman 17:21, 6 February 2010 (UTC)

I only have the 5th printing. WeAreGray 22:09, 6 February 2010 (UTC)
Okay, then open the record for the second printing, just like before, but this time from the "Editing Tools" click on "Clone This Pub". That will open a page that shows all the data from the 2nd printing. All you have to do is change 2nd to 5th in the notes and submit. Once the submission is approved, you can verify it. ~Bill, --Bluesman 01:27, 7 February 2010 (UTC)

Seeds of Rage

Were you putting in a different printing? There was no discernible difference between your submission and the one already in the DB. ?? ~Bill, --Bluesman 22:29, 13 March 2010 (UTC)

The entry submitted was still the first printing, but i has the cover price of $7.99 WeAreGray 22:36, 13 March 2010 (UTC)
Then my mistake, as I entered the other record in the first place, checked my book and I put in the wrong price! I'll fix the record and you can verify it. Still no need for a second record. If you see something like this in the future, and it's been verified, ask the verifier to double-check. We all make mistakes. Thanks! ~Bill, --Bluesman 22:41, 13 March 2010 (UTC)

Dillard's Demons

About this publication: does your copy have the maple leaf on the cover, and does it contain a statement "Printed in Canada". If so, this should be recorded in the note field, and the price should be changed to "C$4.50" to indicate Canadian currency. Also, I've notice that you're dating based on information other than a stated date. This is a "gray" area that can be debatable among other editors. Using ads and series listing for narrowing down the publication date to a year is more acceptable than down to a precise month. How certain are you that these are the actual months? It is also preferable (but not mandatory) that you give the source of the printing number. Does it state "Seventh Printing" or is it number line? (Your notes would lead one to go with the former.) Also if you give a date in the pub record's date field that is not printed in the book, you should state in the notes that the publication date is not given in the book itself, e. g. "Seventh printed, undated" or "Undated 7th printing according the number line". Thanks for contributing. Mhhutchins 16:07, 21 March 2010 (UTC)

This does not have a maple leaf on the cover. Inside it says "Printed in the U.S.A." When I come up with the date, I try get as close the latest book printed. The printing is indetified by the number line. WeAreGray 20:43, 21 March 2010 (UTC)
To avoid any further inquiries, it would be best to either remove the cover image that is currently linked to the record or mention in the notes that the image is not the same as the printing for this record. Thanks. Mhhutchins 21:27, 21 March 2010 (UTC)
It would be best in my opinion to remove the cover image. WeAreGray 21:38, 21 March 2010 (UTC)
I agree. Concerning the dating of the pub: After further thought, I've come to the conclusion that the list of titles isn't sufficient evidence for dating the pub (especially down to the month), and that it should remain undated until a more reliable source can be found. (Look under the Year entry standards on this help page as rationale behind my conclusion.) If you disagree with this decision, you can start a discussion on the Rules and Standards page to bring it to the attention of other editors. Changes in standards are often arrived at after such discussions and you are encouraged to participate in order to bring your opinion into the mix. Thanks. Mhhutchins 21:48, 21 March 2010 (UTC)

Mario Puzo

As far as I'm aware, the only SF connection is the screenplay for Superman. Are the titles you submitted really Speculative Fiction? BLongley 19:06, 17 April 2010 (UTC)

Having just bought them and not had a chance to read them, I can not say for certain, however they are most likely not SF. However there is a Mario Puzo Book in the DB already. WeAreGray 19:35, 17 April 2010 (UTC)
Only for some weird Libertarian "Prometheus Award" - we haven't actually added any publications for it. I'd leave this author till you've read them - I really don't think he's going to be "above the threshold" enough to include everything of his. Feel free to continue with some more definite SF though! BLongley 19:43, 17 April 2010 (UTC)
I've rejected those three, I can't find any evidence of them being SF. If you do read "The Sicillian" though, I'd love to know why it might qualify. BLongley 19:01, 25 April 2010 (UTC)

The Thirteenth House

I added some more notes, corrected the publication date (we use the date mentioned in the pub, so mostly we zero out the day) and corrected the instable LZZZZZZZ Amazon link to the cover illustration (replaced it with this image) for this verified pub. Thanks, --Willem H. 19:43, 20 April 2010 (UTC)

The Lost World

I approved the addition of this printing of the Knopf edition of Michael Crichton's The Lost World. However, the price ($14.95) is too low for a 1995 hardcover, so I decided to investigate. It would appear that this was a "movie tie-in" version of the book, which probably accounts for the lower price. Since the movie came out in 1997, the book couldn't have been published in 1995, so I changed the date to 0000-00-00 until we know for sure. Did you get the date from the copyright date, perchance? Ahasuerus 03:08, 25 April 2010 (UTC)

Yes, I did indeed get the copyright date from the copyright page. However, on closer examination, I found various parts (artwork, jacket design) as copyright 1997 by MCA Publishing Rights, A Division of Universal Studios, Inc. Based on that info, the date for the book should be set to 1997. WeAreGray 16:11, 25 April 2010 (UTC)
Got it, thanks! Ahasuerus 16:32, 25 April 2010 (UTC)

Songs of Distant Earth

Question on the Gutter code: you entered 046, is there a letter with that? or is the '0' supposed to be an 'O', or maybe a 'Q'? Thanks! --~ Bill, Bluesman 23:50, 25 July 2010 (UTC)

Publisher:SFBC 1985-1989 has this as Q18 which is a bit odd as it was released in November near other publications with Q46 and Q48 gutter codes. Once the code stated in this publication is double-checked please add the new code to Publisher:SFBC 1985-1989.
AbeBooks seller listing 1687729274 mentions the Q18 gutter code and so that exists. AbeBooks seller listing 976041034 says "code 1462J" but I was not able to match this up with anything in ISFDB. None of the 429 seller listings for hardcover editions mentioned "46" --Marc Kupper|talk 07:09, 27 July 2010 (UTC)
Upon taking a closer look at the code it is indeed Q46, the q is very difficult to make out with out a close examination. WeAreGray 10:30, 29 July 2010 (UTC)
Thought it might be. Will accept the edit and change the gutter code. Thanks! --~ Bill, Bluesman 19:07, 29 July 2010 (UTC)

Love Conquers All - baen revision

Afternoon! This. [1]. I verified your ver with my copy and then found Locus and Reginald 3 made a point of it being a revision of the Ace edition. I therefore added notes to that effect, modified the look of the page count (as per recent wiki group discussions), and added a cover image. Please check and if anything is amiss, we can change it! LOL Thanks, Harry. --Dragoondelight 20:32, 6 August 2010 (UTC)

Sorry about that I came back and checked the "Watch this page" and save and it saved it twice. Thank, Harry. --Dragoondelight 20:34, 6 August 2010 (UTC)
Everything appears fine to me. Thanks. WeAreGray 00:22, 8 August 2010 (UTC)

World of Tiers Volume One

Have a look at [this] discussion, as it pertains to your submission indirectly, and explains the odd way we treat SFBC printings better than I can. --~ Bill, Bluesman 15:35, 15 August 2010 (UTC)

Dragonlance Legends

I wonder if your Dragonlance Legends Collector's Edition is actually a copy of this? If so, it'll be easier to clone that one rather than approve your edit and do all the merges. Also, you've missed the currency symbol - should it be in US Dollars? And finally, there's no need for a Publication series of "Dragonlance: Legends Trilogy" - the Title series should be enough. BLongley 20:42, 4 September 2010 (UTC)

Yes, that does appear to be the same book, with the exception for the publisher. Yes, the Price should be $12.95 US. If you would rather have this be a clone, that would be fine. WeAreGray 22:17, 4 September 2010 (UTC)
OK, cloned to here. Just needs page number for the afterword now. BLongley 13:25, 5 September 2010 (UTC)
The afterword is not on a numbered page, but if they extended the numbering it would be page 907 and end on page 909. WeAreGray 18:30, 5 September 2010 (UTC)

New image [broken link] for [this] and e-mailed Bill Contento about the Locus listing error. Cheers! --~ Bill, Bluesman 00:03, 8 September 2010 (UTC)

The Starcraft Archive cover

I saw that you changed the cover URL for this pub TO an amazon image ending in LZZZZZZZ.jpg. Those Amazon URLs are often unstable, amazon appears to change them (or rather keep the URL the same but change the image pointed at) whenever a new cover or edition comes out, or break such URLs (so they point to nothing) if the book goes out of print. See ISFDB:Image linking permissions#List of sites granting permission (under Amazon) for more detail. I have change the URL on the above linked pub to a probably more stable one. -DES Talk 12:50, 9 September 2010 (UTC)

Understood and noted, Thank You. WeAreGray 23:36, 9 September 2010 (UTC)
Thanks. Note also that it is acceptable, although more trouble, to download an amazon image and upload it to the iSFDB wiki. This is never required, but will ensure future stability. I sometimes do this, but far from always. -DES Talk 02:21, 10 September 2010 (UTC)

date of 4th Kushiel's Chosen

Is this 4th printing you just submitted dated March, 2003 (same date as 1st printing), or is it perhaps undated? --MartyD 16:24, 18 September 2010 (UTC)

Sorry, I intended to change the date unknown, but I forgot to. WeAreGray 16:30, 18 September 2010 (UTC)
Ok, thanks. I blanked it. --MartyD 20:11, 18 September 2010 (UTC)

The Shadow of the Lion

Did you intend to remove the cover image from this pub and replace it with another one? The URL of the replacement image was blank. Thanks. Mhhutchins 16:35, 18 September 2010 (UTC)

I intended to remove the cover, as while the art is the same, it is a different design. WeAreGray 16:49, 18 September 2010 (UTC)
OK. Done. Mhhutchins 17:35, 18 September 2010 (UTC)

Ghost of a Chance

Donaldson's Daughter of Regals and Other Tales

I've added notes to this record and did another primary verification of the pub. Thanks. Mhhutchins 20:45, 3 October 2010 (UTC)

Babylon 5: Other Voices, Volume 1

I'm holding the submission adding this pub for your response to these questions:

  • This appears to be an anthology of teleplays (tv scripts). If so, the content pieces should be FICTION type rather than ESSAY type (except if they are introductions, afterwords, etc.).
  • Because there is more than one author, the pub record would be considered an ANTHOLOGY type rather a COLLECTION.
  • Is there no editor of record and are all the authors credited on the title page?
  • Is there a stated ISBN in the publication?

Thanks. Mhhutchins 18:16, 12 October 2010 (UTC)

Yes, this is a collection of TV Scripts. Executive Editor was Jaclyn Easton, Editor was Jan Schroeder. All the authors are credited on the front cover and on the table of contents. There is no stated ISBN in the book :-(. WeAreGray 21:05, 12 October 2010 (UTC)
I've accepted the submission but you'll have to make the following changes in the pub record:
  • Change the type from COLLECTION to ANTHOLOGY.
  • Remove all the author's credited in the author fields, and add Jaclyn Easton (she'll be credited as the editor once the change to ANTHOLOGY has been accepted).
  • Change the scripts from ESSAY to SHORTFICTION, leaving the length field blank.
These can be made in a single submission. If you have any questions, ask it here. Thanks. Mhhutchins 21:39, 12 October 2010 (UTC)
Done. WeAreGray 23:45, 12 October 2010 (UTC)

Perry Rhodan, #108: Die Wüste des Todes

You submitted the 3rd publication of Perry Rhodan #108. I have a few remarks about this. First, you added "PR Zyklus 3: Die Posbis" in the publication series field. This is not correct. This field is used for publication series (like the Ace specials, Avon's SF rediscovery etc). The Perry Rhodan cycles are linked to the title records (for #108 see here. Second, the 3rd publication (or 3.Ausgabe as stated on the blue label) is a weird one. The publisher had lots of copies remaining from the 2nd printing, and added these labels and new price stickers. This run ended with (probably) #276, when the true 3rd printing started with #1 again. Your copy of #108 was for sale in november 1969 (with the new stickers), but published in april 1968 (your note sais printed is 1967, could well be true). I approved your edit, deleted the publication series data, and merged the novella's title with the original. Are you planning to add more German Perry Rhodan? --Willem H. 20:36, 4 November 2010 (UTC)

Yes, I am planning on adding more German Perry Rhodan's. I picked up some, including 108 - 199 with the third printing labels. I also have a bunch of the double band 5th printing and a bunch of the 1st printing as well. WeAreGray 08:42, 5 November 2010 (UTC)
Good! Could save me a lot of time. I'm still trying to enter the 1st printing in the database (up to #280, only 2300 to go). Please remember to leave the publication series field blank. If you can read German, this is a great site about PR and this page can be used to determine the publication date. Here is the magazines project page (still under construction). If you have any questions, ask me! --Willem H. 12:26, 5 November 2010 (UTC)

New Perry Rhodans

I approved the new additions, but have a few remarks. The page count for magazines is different than for other publications. See this helptext under "pages". About #2500: You added Klaus N. Frick as editor, according to my information this should be Robert Feldhoff and Rainer Castor. See here for an overview. They should be mentioned in the magazine. You have the publisher as Pabel-Moewig Verlag. This should i.m.o. be Pabel-Moewig. "Verlag" is German for publisher. The publisher was Moewig for the first 559 PR's (first edition of course). With #560 this changed to Pabel-Moewig. Thanks for the additions! --Willem H. 22:08, 12 November 2010 (UTC)

Ok, thank for the remarks, I have updated the page count on 2500 from front cover to back cover and removed the Verlag from the publisher. I have checked the magazine and the credits section at the back list "Chefredaktion: Klaus N. Frick", although I agree about the editor, I see no evidence in the issue of any other credits for editor. WeAreGray 00:13, 13 November 2010 (UTC)
Thanks for the edits. I'll have to think about the editor. As far as I can tell, Klaus N. Frick is editor in chief for all sf/fantasy published by Pabel-Moewig, and the real editing was done by the "exposé autoren". I'll let you know if I find more information. --Willem H. 09:30, 13 November 2010 (UTC)
OK, after looking at that page I will use that as guide for any future submissions. WeAreGray 11:17, 13 November 2010 (UTC)

Ilse Witch and HTML

I repaired the malformed HTML used to link the LCCN in the notes of this pub. You failed to enter the carat closing the linking tag. And the tag closing the list (<ul>) was missing its forward slash. Bad HTML can cause a record to display incorrectly, or even not at all. Mhhutchins 16:56, 23 February 2011 (UTC)

Oops, sorry. I am normally more careful than that. Thanks WeAreGray 18:20, 23 February 2011 (UTC)

New Perry Rhodan edits

Thank you for your three new entries! But because of the complexity of its structure would you be so kind to meet the standards of editing the series (else they don't fit with the issues already edited)? This inludes a differentiation of the author of the novella and the editors. We edit the series as a magazine and so we have in fact in those issues from #2504 onwards three magazine editors, namely Uwe Anton, Klaus N. Frick and Rainer Castor. See this page for a overview of the whole series. In addition, any infomation on other contents, mainly illustrations, but also Reports, stories and Clubnachrichten would be welcome. See other issues from the #2400s for examples. Any questions? Feel free to ask: Stonecreek 18:57, 24 February 2011 (UTC)

And pay attention to the fact that the stories are entered as novellas, they qualify as such because of their length (#2400, #2500 and other 'round' issues are an exception from that rule). Another addition: #2580 should have incorporated a Perry Rhodan-Report. See #2492 for an example how to enter it. (You don't have to enter the contents, but at least it should be mentioned in the pub notes and the page count.) Stonecreek 19:08, 24 February 2011 (UTC)

Good to see you're back, and thanks for the additions. There's one more thing you should know, we don't have permission to link to images on the publisher's website. It's better to download them from there (or scan your own copy of course), and upload the scan to the wiki. We note our progress with the series here, and any discussion / question can be added to this page. --Willem H. 20:05, 24 February 2011 (UTC)
I have added a question on the talk page for the Perry Rhodan magazine of how to enter the Perry Rhodan Report. Your input differs from the input so far. Both have their merits, so we have to discuss which should be the canonical way. Feel free to add to the discussion over there. Stonecreek 11:32, 25 February 2011 (UTC)
I went back and added the information for 2580, and I intend to go back and finish the rest of them as well. WeAreGray 12:06, 25 February 2011 (UTC)

For your edit of #2583:

1) Are you sure that Michael Wittmann was the illustrator of the 'Rißzeichnung' in the middle (p. 34/35)? Normally, he doesn't do them. The illustrator should be mentioned somewhere on this (double)page or in the accompanying text.

2) The other illustrations should be titled after the title of the novella, in this case it would be 'Psi-Inferno' by Michael Wittmann. This is the standard for entering all interior illustrations, with the following exception: If they are explicitly titled, as was the case in some of the early #1000s, this title is entered.

3) The editor of the 'Leserkontaktseite' is - to my knowledge - Arndt Ellmer. Perhaps he is mentioned at the end of the pages, please take a look there. And it should not be entered as NONFICTION: As I understand the rules, NONFICTION is for books, all other material of non-fictional character should be entered as ESSAY.

Generally, please take a look at other entries for the series. Stonecreek 20:02, 25 February 2011 (UTC)

For your edit of #2580, there are a few issues with the contents entries.
First, the NONFICTION type should not be used for the "Perry Rhodan Report". See here under "entry type". In fact, if we enter the reports at all, it should be as several essays, bookreviews, letters etc. It's up to you to determine how detailed these entries are. The presence of the "Perry Rhodan Report" should be mentioned in the notes.
Second, we don't name interior art pieces "interior art". If there's no name given to the piece, use the title of the story (or the pub) illustrated. Thus, the illustration in #2580 should not be "Interior Artwork - PR #2580", but "Handelsstern im Visier". The entry type "INTERIORART" makes sure it's recognisable as such.
As Stonecreek said, please look at other entries in the series. See the series grid. --Willem H. 20:53, 25 February 2011 (UTC)

SFBC edition of More Than Human

The OCLC record you linked to this record is for the Ballantine edition. Only the OCLC record for this particular edition should be linked to the ISFDB record. Also, the LCCN is for the 1975 Garland edition. LCCNs should not be placed in the record unless they actually represent the book indicated by the ISFDB record, or are recorded in the book itself. Do either of these apply to this book? Mhhutchins 01:49, 25 February 2011 (UTC)

After doing a little looking, it does appear that the LCCN is not correct. As for the OCLC, I did no research for it, that number was already there, I merely turned it into a link. WeAreGray 10:45, 25 February 2011 (UTC)
If you added the LCCN, please update the record to remove it. I'll ask the other verifier if he knows anything about the OCLC record. Thanks. Mhhutchins 19:57, 25 February 2011 (UTC)
Seems I added the incorrect OCLC number. It may have been on my clipboard and pasted in. I usually run through all the editions at the same time. Have located the correct record and changed the OCLC number accordingly. --~ Bill, Bluesman 15:41, 26 February 2011 (UTC)

Moderator note in the pub record

Unfortunately, moderators can't change submissions. We can only accept them, reject them, place them on hold in order to research them, or leave them in the queue for another moderator to look at them. Any messages to moderators should be posted on the the Moderator Noticeboard. If you have specific questions about the German editions of Perry Rhodan, you can post them on this talk page. What is exactly the piece starting on page 61? If it is a short piece of nonfiction, you should use the ESSAY type. NONFICTION type is used for book-length publications only. If the piece is not credited specifically to the editors, it should be credited as "uncredited". This also applies to the essay on page 65. When you update the record remember to remove the note to the moderator. Thanks. Mhhutchins 19:55, 25 February 2011 (UTC)

SFBC edition of Bradley's The House Between the Worlds

I expanded the notes concerning the gutter code for this publication. Thanks. Mhhutchins 21:01, 26 February 2011 (UTC)

HTML code

Just an FYI: </li> doesn't do anything. Unlike bold or italic a line indent does not require 'closing'. <ul> does require closing. --~ Bill, Bluesman 20:04, 1 April 2011 (UTC)

I just looked it up and according to the HTML 2.0 Standard Section 3.2.2 MAY be omitted, I just prefer to close them, so that when inspected it is explicitly clear where the list item closes. Thank You WeAreGray 20:10, 1 April 2011 (UTC)
No problem. I like anything that means less typing, and with HTML, less 'tags' that can be improperly used. They can display in submissions quite strangely at times! Cheers! --~ Bill, Bluesman 20:21, 1 April 2011 (UTC)
One of the outstanding changes in the Development queue looks for mismatched "<" and ">" in Notes, which would alleviate some of the worst problems. Not the ABSOLUTE worst, as it is possible to enter notes that make publications totally uneditable. :-( The main thing is - if you're going to use HTML, do it safely. PR 2500

Added further contents to your verified pub. Stonecreek 21:51, 7 June 2011 (UTC)

Thanks for the update. WeAreGray 20:28, 8 June 2011 (UTC)

And I did the same for this one (PR #2580). Stonecreek 10:38, 14 November 2011 (UTC)

Again Thank You. WeAreGray 15:17, 14 November 2011 (UTC)

Waiting for the Galactic Bus by Godwin

Can you see if the statement "Book Club Edition" is printed on the front flap of the dustjacket of this pub? Thanks. Mhhutchins 14:24, 14 June 2011 (UTC)

Also please check The Snake Oil Wars. Mhhutchins 14:43, 14 June 2011 (UTC)
I will check these when I get home from work today. WeAreGray 10:38, 16 June 2011 (UTC)
Neither book has the statement on the flaps. WeAreGray 20:44, 16 June 2011 (UTC)
Thanks for checking. I'm going to record this lack of a statement on each book's pub record. Mhhutchins 21:28, 16 June 2011 (UTC)

Bitter Angels by C. L. Anderson

On the cover scan I see Bantam Books on the lower left corner and McGrath 08 on the lower right corner. Using look inside function on the amazon I find Ballantine Books and Cover illustration by Chris McGrath. Please confirm one or another. Calin Hila 12:03, 23 July 2011 (UTC)

The Spine show Ballantine Books/Spectra. On the copyright page it has "A Spectra Mass Market Original". It also has "Cover Illustration by Chris McGrath" WeAreGray 20:16, 28 July 2011 (UTC)

Cover for In Fire Forged

Hi. I have your submission that would change the cover image link on In Fire Forged on hold. Not my main point, but why do you want to change it? The real problem is that you're proposing a link to webscription.net, to which we do not have permission to link (to my knowledge). See ISFDB:Image linking permissions for details. But I want to make sure I understand what problem you're trying to solve. Thanks. --MartyD 09:57, 26 August 2011 (UTC)

That is the publisher's site for e-books. As for why, It is a better quality picture. WeAreGray 23:48, 30 August 2011 (UTC)
If you want to use it, you need to download it from the publisher's site and upload it to the ISFDB server (just as you would a cover scan of your own), citing the original source. --MartyD 10:23, 31 August 2011 (UTC)
I am going to reject the submission. The link you used is http://www.webscription.net/images/Product/large/A9781439134146.jpg. --MartyD 10:11, 2 September 2011 (UTC)

Live Free Or Die

I updated your verified publication Live Free Or Die based on my copy in hand. I replaced the cover artwork with a fresh link to Amazon (the old linked cover disappeared.. it's not correct, because the Amazon artwork is missing the Publishers Weekly blurb on the bottom center - but it is better than a blank square). I updated the publisher from 'Baen Books' to simply 'Baen'. I also added the Acknowledgements, the Foreword by Howard Taylor, and John's afterword. - Thanks Kevin 21:42, 4 September 2011 (UTC)

The Frankenstein Papers by Fred Saberhagen

I have corrected the artist's name on http://www.isfdb.org/cgi-bin/pl.cgi?40193 The Frankenstein Papers. On the copyright page the name is given as Steve Hickson, not Steve Hickman. I'm not familiar with either name, but if you need to discuss the change, please contact me. Biomassbob 04:01, 11 February 2012 (UTC)

The Chessmen of Mars

I added the publication month to The Chessmen of Mars per Heins and a note to that affect. I also added the appendix essay "Jetan, or Martian Chess". Thanks. --Ron ~ RtraceTalk 13:39, 22 April 2012 (UTC)

I have been adding that essay to the US editions of Burroughs' The Chessmen of Mars per Henry Hardy Heins' A Golden Anniversary Bibliography of Edgar Rice Burroughs. Heins states that the 1963 Ballantine edition includes this appendix. Could you check your copy for this appendix? Thanks. --Ron ~ RtraceTalk 14:11, 22 April 2012 (UTC)
I've dug around a bir and I haven't been able to lay my hands on this copy. When I find it, I will update. Thanks. WeAreGray 08:58, 25 April 2012 (UTC)

Lord of the Isles

I added to the notes of http://www.isfdb.org/cgi-bin/pl.cgi?20698 Lord of the Isles: complete number line indicates first printing, endpaper map artist credited on copyright page, cover artist credited on rear jacket flap, LCCN. I also added the endpaper maps and the Note To the Reader to the contents. Bob 22:37, 1 May 2012 (UTC)

Luna Books, e.g. "Fortune's Fool" & "The Snow Queen" by Mercedes Lackey

We have a substantial number of books listed with publisher "Luna". This seems to be a somewhat ambiguous name, since our system includes publishers "Luna", "Luna / Harlequin (Australia)", "Luna Media", "Luna Press", and "Luna Publications". I've verified one of these books, and you've verified two: Fortune's Fool, and The Snow Queen. Since Luna is an imprint of Harlequin, and at least in my book Harlequin is listed on the copyright page as the copyright owner, I suggest that we change this publisher name to "Luna / Harlequin". Is this ok with you? (I'll be leaving messages for the other two verifiers of books in this series pointing them to this discussion.) Chavey 15:20, 5 May 2012 (UTC)
