ASIN for a tp record

Hello, you've added an ASIN in this submission. Can you explain why you added it to a tp edition? Normally, ASINs are only added to Kindle records. If you need to refer to an ASIN that does not belong to the publication, you can mention it in the notes using the ASIN template. Something like Additional information from the Kindle edition ({{ASIN|B00VTXHJ38}}). MagicUnk 16:54, 4 January 2020 (EST)

Hi, MagicUnk. I think I just added this ASIN like an External links not like an External IDs. But it's a good ideea with this template. I believe, I will cancel this submission, is too much to work (100 stories to add and other related tasks). I would need help. Online content of this book is here (please refresh if errors occur). --Florin 04:00, 5 January 2020 (EST)
Hi. No need to cancel. You can move the ASIN ID to the notes using the template, and gradually add the contents bit by bit. Also, use the {{incomplete}} template to indicate the Content is not complete yet. I've approved the submission. MagicUnk 16:36, 5 January 2020 (EST)
Little nudge to don't forget to move the ASIN to the notes, as explained above :) MagicUnk 06:17, 7 January 2020 (EST)
Ok!! --Florin 08:16, 7 January 2020 (EST)

'(3. vol.)'

Hi. It seems that this suffix is not a genuine part of the title as printed, so it's better to drop it. Christian Stonecreek 04:29, 5 January 2020 (EST)

Bad ISBN for Povestiri fantastice

I noticed that your submission here has a bad ISBN checksum, so I've put it on hold. Apparently, you've copied the ISBN-10 from [1], right? Unfortunately, it looks like this is a bad ISBN, as evidenced when using the ISBN converter. Can you see if you can find a correct ISBN elsewhere? Thanks! MagicUnk 12:07, 8 January 2020 (EST)

Hi, MagicUnk. I noticed this (here and in other submissions) but with the Back button I lose stories from Regular Titles. Bad ISBN: 9789738893444, good ISBN: 9789738893443--Florin 12:13, 8 January 2020 (EST)
Approved and corrected! Thanks! MagicUnk 12:17, 8 January 2020 (EST)

Missing information

Hi, I have this submission on hold from you: unknown format and publisher, no ISBN, no price. Can you please add some detail? I find 'A Reader' a highly suspect publisher name.--Dirk P Broer 16:13, 15 January 2020 (EST)

Hi, Dirk P Broer. I believe is a ebook self published by Someşan. Contains only one new story (Închide bine ușa!) and SF writer's guide (essay). Cancel submission? --Florin 01:16, 16 January 2020 (EST)
It has an external ID and is published, so we'd better let it be in the database.--Dirk P Broer 13:13, 16 January 2020 (EST)

Ionică Lucian versus Lucian Ionică

Hi, can you check whether Ionică Lucian and Lucian Ionică are the same person?--Dirk P Broer 04:53, 16 January 2020 (EST)

Hi, in CPSF 346 at pp. 20 is writen: Ionică Lucian (from) Timișoara, and Lucian Ionică is from Timișoara, too. In CPSF 396 at pp. 24 is writen Lucian Ionică debuted in CPSF 346 with Teledragoste. Is the same person. --Florin 05:37, 16 January 2020 (EST)
Thanks!--Dirk P Broer 06:54, 16 January 2020 (EST)

Caves of Steel fragment as serial

Hello, I've accepted your submission of Cavernele de oțel (fragmente) as a serialized variant of Caves of Steel. However, if this is the only part, it should not be varianted to the full novel. Rather, this fragment in Romanian should then stand on its own as SHORTFICTION, with an accompanying note that it is a fragment of Caves of Steel. MagicUnk 14:53, 16 January 2020 (EST)

Ok (is a SHORTFICTION) --Florin 14:55, 16 January 2020 (EST)
And accepted. :) You also want to unvariant from the main title (by entering a 0 in the parent id field). And keep the Eliyah Baley series information. MagicUnk 15:22, 16 January 2020 (EST)

Nautilus #1

Hello, I've accepted your submission. One small change is in order though: magazine titles are entered in the form title, issue no, date. Note the comma. Date may also be in the form of season year. Have a look at similar magazines. In addition, the EDITOR title is updated to 'magazine name-year' Cheers MagicUnk 15:17, 16 January 2020 (EST)

"Pod cu trol" and "Discworld" series

Hi, your submission for the title Pod cu trol included "Discworld" as the series. However, there's no need to enter the title series if the titles is a variant because it then automatically inherits the series from the parent title, in this case from Troll Bridge. A variant's title series will not be displayed by the software. I removed the series from Pod cu trol. Jens Hitspacebar 07:15, 19 January 2020 (EST)

Hi Hitspacebar, I know this, but after that it's easier for me to make the connection between the original work and its variant. --Florin 07:07, 21 January 2020 (EST)
Ok. But in case you don't know this: such variants will appear on the Variant Titles in Series cleanup report. Therefore please remember to remove the series from the variant after varianting, because otherwise you'll put extra workload onto the shoulders of other editors who go through the cleanup reports. Jens Hitspacebar 13:18, 21 January 2020 (EST)

Source info in notes & chapbook SHORTFICTION title record required

Hi Florin, just a reminder to not forget to add the source from where you got the information from in the notes. For example, in your recent submission Vînătoarea I assume the data is coming from printrecarti.ro. However, unless explicitly stated in the notes it is so, there's always the possibility that the data is coming from somewhere else instead. Not a big deal, but thought I'd mention it anyway:) Another thing to not forget is that CHAPBOOK pubs always require a SHORTFICTION title in the contents section too - I've updated Vînătoarea with a novella-length title record for you. Greetings, MagicUnk 15:27, 22 January 2020 (EST)

Cutezătorii

Hello, I've approved your Cutezătorii magazine submissions, but I have a few questions if I may. Magazine EDITOR titles require the series field to be filled in. I am assuming Cutezătorii is the magazine's actual name, is it? If so, you can use that in the series field. I'm also confused as to what the number between brackets means. Could you clarify what 37 (103) signifies in the title ' Cutezatorii 37 (103) '? We standardize magazine titles to ' title, date ', or ' title, issue no, date '. If it is the issue number, you could enter it as ' Cutezatorii, #37 (103) ', or ' Cutezătorii, #37 (103), September 1969 ' for example (depends whether September 1969 is the issue's actual release date or not). - see here for some more information. Finally, did you use the images from the cover and contents as sources for the entry, or do you happen to have other source(s)? Thank you very much for your answers! MagicUnk 15:59, 22 January 2020 (EST)

Hi, MagicUnk. '37' is 37th issue of that year (1969) and '103' is number 103 since the publication of the magazine (in total) First issue -- in September 1967. In this case, I find it easier to use this name, but (I believe) we still have to use the standard ( ' title, date ', or ' title, issue no, date '). I don't have other sources at this time.--Florin 00:43, 23 January 2020 (EST)
Ah, sounds like yearly volumes then. You should then either change the title into something like ' Cutezatorii, #103, September 1969 ', and/or add an explanatory note that it is the 37th issue of 1969, 103rd issue since the magazine's conception. Regards, MagicUnk 13:32, 24 January 2020 (EST)
And, you should upload the scan of the cover by using the "Upload cover scan" link, instead of having the link in the webpages multifield. MagicUnk 13:40, 24 January 2020 (EST)
Done! --Florin 15:39, 24 January 2020 (EST)

Alexander Freis Tersch

Hi, I'll bet he speaks/wites German, but shouldn't it be Alexander (von) Fries-Tersch?.--Dirk P Broer 08:17, 23 January 2020 (EST)

William Penn

Hi, this submission: William Penn = William Tenn (Brooklyn Project)? Might be a typo by the magazin.--Dirk P Broer 08:22, 23 January 2020 (EST)

Possible. Or (at that time) an intentional mistake for avoid copyright. --Florin 08:55, 23 January 2020 (EST)

Thomas Cogswell

Hi, concerning this submission: Thomas Cogswell = Theodore (R.) Cogswell? If it is a translation then we should already have it, but we have no Thomas Cogswell at all. This could again be a typo by the magazin.--Dirk P Broer 08:28, 23 January 2020 (EST)

Found it: Paradise Regained by Cogswell Thomas, a joint pseudonym.--Dirk P Broer 08:32, 23 January 2020 (EST)
Yes, me too right now. --Florin 08:33, 23 January 2020 (EST)
This is a scanned portion from inside the magazine. --Florin 08:38, 23 January 2020 (EST)

Revista Magazin, #44 (1880)

Can you check this magazine again? On first sight it looks like the publication date should be in 1993, not 1992. Thanks, --Willem 04:40, 26 January 2020 (EST)

44 1880.jpg. Yes, indeed, you're right! --Florin 04:48, 26 January 2020 (EST)
Thanks & corrected. --Willem 14:43, 26 January 2020 (EST)

Memento

Hi Florin. I screwed up your submissions, but I've fixed it again - I think - Could you check if Memento if correctly varianted? Sorry...! MagicUnk 15:29, 27 January 2020 (EST)

Hi MagicUnk. It's ok. --Florin 00:26, 28 January 2020 (EST)

Exit: Povestiri de dincolo

Hi Florin - just a reminder that title: subtitle should be separated by a colon, not a period as you submitted. Cheers! MagicUnk 15:34, 27 January 2020 (EST)

Hi. See this submission. --Florin 00:29, 28 January 2020 (EST)

Cover art credit Paradox, #15, 1990

Hi, what did Marcel Luca do to deserve credit for this cover?--Dirk P Broer 15:55, 1 February 2020 (EST)

Hi. Is a link there, and in pdf file it's written: cover illustration after Chris Foss and cover III by Marcel Luca, on cover III is a essaay by Luca. Shall we delete it?--Florin 01:24, 2 February 2020 (EST)
I'll remove Luca as artist. You may want to add the essay.--Dirk P Broer 05:16, 2 February 2020 (EST)

Jules Verne translations

I have been documenting the various translations of Jules Verne's works and trying to identify a piece of text from each translation so editors can position their publications under the correct title record. You are on record as a primary verifier for one or more publications for which I am looking for text or which are placed under a generic translation title. I would be grateful if you could assist in this by checking your copies, as listed below, and providing the initial text for missing translations or an indication of the translation for those unspecified. These are listed on the Jules Verne Translations wiki. Thank you. ../Doug H 14:24, 10 May 2020 (EDT)

Ok. Job done. --Florin 13:24, 1 June 2020 (EDT)
Much appreciated. I've added the text to the title entries so the information will be in the database as well as the wiki. ../Doug H 13:56, 1 June 2020 (EDT)

Ficțiuni pentru revolver și orchestră

Hello. I have your submission on hold for a moment, as I'm wondering where the price you've submitted is coming from, and whether it is the price at time of publication (which is the price we need to record)? Is it printed on or in the book (which would be perfect)? Not sure if you own the book? If you do, consider verifying the publication record. The reference [2] you provided has (as of 2020-09-06) Lei 3.20, and Lei 7.99 as list(?) price. Could you confirm which is which? Thanks! MagicUnk 10:12, 6 September 2020 (EDT)

Hello, MagicUnk. Is the price printed on back cover:

Ficțiuni pentru revolver și orchestră cover IV.jpg

Best Regards, --Florin 11:50, 6 September 2020 (EDT)

And approved! Thanks for the confirmation! Regards, MagicUnk 12:23, 6 September 2020 (EDT)

Fantascienza/NILF

Fantascienza/NILF is one of the external ID we support so when you use them as a source, instead of adding the link to the Web Pages, add the ID to the proper ID :) I fixed it here. I also removed that short story that you added for some reason (the thing starting on page 3 is the novel itself) and cleaned up the formatting of the price and pages fields. Annie 11:43, 14 September 2020 (EDT)

Okay, good to know for the future - we only have a few books at isfdb (approx. 14) out of a total of 208. --Florin 11:50, 14 September 2020 (EDT)
We do not have an active Italian editor at the moment so most of the books we have are either from people who own them and added them before or being added slowly the way you just added this one). We miss a lot of books, especially non-English ones. :) Annie 11:58, 14 September 2020 (EDT)
