Welcome!

Hello, Sfmvnterry, and welcome to the ISFDB Wiki! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

Note: Image uploading isn't entirely automated. You're uploading the files to the wiki which will then have to be linked to the database by editing the publication record.

Please be careful in editing publications that have been primary verified by other editors. See Help:How to verify data#Making changes to verified pubs. But if you have a copy of an unverified publication, verifying it can be quite helpful. See Help:How to verify data for detailed information.

I hope you enjoy editing here! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will insert your name and the date. If you need help, check out the community portal, or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! Stonecreek 09:01, 17 February 2021 (EST)

An explanation

Hi! The welcoming seems to have been placed on the wrong page: it does belong to your talk page, whereas your statement belongs to your user page (here). So I interchanged the two. Thanks for becoming active! Stonecreek 09:04, 17 February 2021 (EST)

Just moving this to the Talk page - the User page should really be left to the editor; messages to them belong here :) Annie 17:05, 19 February 2021 (EST)

Forced Rejection

I saw that you asked another moderator but he is based in Europe and may not be around for awhile so just dropping you a quick note.

You did not do anything wrong. However - some time between when you submitted the import and when it came for review, a title got merged or deleted and one of the titles you are trying to import does not exist anymore (during a merge, we lose all but one of the IDs). When that happens, the only option for a moderator is to Force Reject - and we do not get an option to explain why as we do with proper rejections - basically the submission is not viable anymore. Sometimes a moderator will leave a message to the editor to explain that, sometimes it is late and people forget :)

So please submit the import again and sorry about that! Let me know if you have any concerns or if I can add any more details about that. Annie 17:03, 19 February 2021 (EST)

I don't understand "a title got merged or deleted." The three formats are still there, and everything looks the same as it did when I started. I see the error message on both of them, "Error: This submission is no longer valid. Title 2835086 is no longer in the database," but that number doesn't seem to have any connection to the Title or the three Publications involved. I should just try again because something happened in the hours between my submission and the moderator's action? Sfmvnterry 22:02, 19 February 2021 (EST)
One of the stories you were trying to import got merged with a previous version of the same story that was already in the DB. So the ID that you tried to import does not exist - the book with contents contains the ID this one was merged into losing the ID 2835086. Hope this makes more sense. The books themselves and the anthology record are not changed, it is one of the stories inside of them. And yes - in such cases, the only thing that can be done is for the submission to be sent again so it comes out with the new/different ID instead of the old one. Annie 22:32, 19 February 2021 (EST)
Now I'm really confused. I just saw that every story in the contents I added was created new, and now each one sits twice on the author's page. (Except for the story that didn't previously exist here because the magazine hasn't been added.) All I did was put in each story title and author - it wasn't like there was a field for an ID number, IIRC. How to fix this? Sfmvnterry 22:45, 19 February 2021 (EST)
