Welcome!

Hello, Nettirw, and welcome to the ISFDB Wiki! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

Note: Image uploading isn't entirely automated. You're uploading the files to the wiki which will then have to be linked to the database by editing the publication record.

Please be careful in editing publications that have been primary verified by other editors. See Help:How to verify data#Making changes to verified pubs. But if you have a copy of an unverified publication, verifying it can be quite helpful. See Help:How to verify data for detailed information.

I hope you enjoy editing here! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will insert your name and the date. If you need help, check out the community portal, or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! Mhhutchins 04:07, 20 February 2013 (UTC)

Michael Bailey

I'm holding the submission to change the birthdate and add further data for the author Michael Bailey. It seems that there are at least two authors with this name, because it's impossible for an author born in 1979 to have a story published in 1964. If you are the author, or know him, please tell us which titles are by the author born in 1979. We can create a disambiguated author name that will separate the titles to the correct author. Everything listed on the following page is by the Michael Bailey born in 1979 (me), except for the essay "Missing the Wit and Creativity (2009)" which is someone different. http://www.isfdb.org/cgi-bin/ea.cgi?34098 - MB

Submission details

Hi. A couple of minor submission comments for you:

  • Amazon embeds sizing/formatting information in its image URLs. That information can lead to white boxes and other undesirable display artifacts within the ISFDB. When working with those, remove everything between the last two periods, and one of the periods. So, for example, https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/51fm6anxfqL._SX331_BO1,204,203,200_.jpg should be entered as https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/51fm6anxfqL.jpg.
  • Be sure to include currency on prices. E.g., $10.95 instead of 10.95

As I said, just minor things. Thanks, and thank you for contributing. --MartyD 02:17, 16 May 2017 (UTC)

Missing the Wit and Creativity

Hello, I've put your submission on hold. Our etiquette requires you to clear the matter beforehand with the PV of the book. Hauck 06:33, 16 May 2017 (UTC)

Pellucid Lunacy

Hello, I've put s your submission on hold, can you be more precise about the spec-fic nature of the book (we're not into psychological horror), the percentage of "new" (ISFDB-wise) authors is quite high. Hauck 06:36, 16 May 2017 (UTC)

PELLUCID LUNACY is an anthology of horror, and the first anthology published by Written Backwards (press). - MB
This I understood, but are the texts included spec-fic (i.e. with either robots, vampires or elves) or just "plain" horror (with serial killers or molested children)? Hauck 15:35, 16 May 2017 (UTC)

Chiral Mad 3

Hello, I've approved your submission (and changed title also at publication level). Please avoid to simply copy blurbs from amazon, the terms are a bit too laudatory for a bibliographical site ("critically-acclaimed ", "award-winning", "extraordinary"...). I've toned down the lot and dropped the bits that only indicated the contents (that's the purpose of the ISFDB). Hauck 06:40, 16 May 2017 (UTC)

The Burden of Indigo

Hello, I've approved your multiple submissions but please avoid to re-enter data anew (e.g. the cover credit) as you'll end with duplicate contents in the publication (I've deleted the second cover credit).Hauck 06:45, 16 May 2017 (UTC)

The Far Future

Hello, I've put your submission on hold as it's unclear if this book is a NOVEL (as you indicated) or a COLLECTION (as seems from the synopsis and the book itself). Again please avoid such over-enthousiast blurbs. Hauck 06:50, 16 May 2017 (UTC)

THE FAR FUTURE is a meta-novel more than a collection, or a novel composed of novelettes and novellas. This is book #4 in the series. - MB

A general note

As you can see from the remarks above, it may be good to take some time to learn how to use the db before submitting such huge batches that entail quite a lot of corrections and/or verifications. I always advise new users to make submissions one by one and wait for approval before going further, this helps them with our (sometimes steep) learning curve. Thanks for contributing.
