Science Wonder Quarterly, Winter 1930
I have to reject the submission to change the date of this issue from 1930-01-00 to 1929-12-15. Because this is dated on the cover as a 1930 issue, we have to retain that as the date of the issue. Because of the vagaries of magazine publishing it's almost impossible to determine the actual publication date of magazine issues. That's why we depend solely on the date given on the cover. This becomes a problem when the dating is seasonal. But we can't change the date of "Winter 1930" to December 1929 without conflicting with the established standards of the ISFDB and other databases. For example, the January issue of almost every magazine in the field appears on the newsstand and in subscribers' mailboxes sometime in late November, sometimes even earlier. Regardless, the ISFDB record gives the date as January.
About your note concerning the removal of the source for the non-verified records. Yes, feel free to remove any source data when you can do a primary verification of the record and can confirm that the data is actually stated in the publication. If the data is from a secondary source, but remains unstated in the publication, you should retain the source in the note field. Thanks for contributing. Serialization of complete novels
When novels are published complete in one issue of a magazine, it is still considered a serialization, and should be typed as SERIAL in ISFDB records. Thanks. Mhhutchins 02:16, 30 July 2012 (UTC)
