The Far end of History

Hello. I wanted to let you know that you can directly submit an update of a (in this case) title record. Based on your Note to Moderator, I have updated the title recordThe Far End of History by replacing the existing note with your note, and updated the length from novella to novelette (as word count is a teeny weeny below the threshold for novella - 17,413 vs 17,500 words).
Alternatively, if you want to communicate with a moderator, either post on his/her talk page, or do head over to the help desk, or community portal. All of my length-based edits are labeled in the "note to moderator". I have a link to an on-line word counter, so if I have an e-text, I can get (and so indicate) an actual count. If I label it "by very careful estimate" I've used the method that I see mentioned several times on this page--I count an entire page, and then count the pages, carefully removing any quarter or half-pages that are blank, filled with an illustration, etc. A few of my older edits were labelled "careful estimate"; in those I only counted maybe half a page, and then calculated an average number of words per line, multiplying by the number of lines on the page to get a page count. But now I count a whole page. If I use any other method, I've indicated it (such as a story in an anthology being the same page count as another in the same anthology).
As a best practice, always carefully add the source (and date it if it's a (likely) transient source such as websites) of data you are entering in the notes field of either the title record or publication record, and not in the 'Notes to Moderators' field. Here, I was indeed wondering if you had a copy of the actual book. So, you could have added something like ' Word count by careful estimate based on actual book/pdf/ebook whatever '. As an aside, but related to that, if you have a publication in hand (or have an ebook), then consider primary verifying said publication record. Doing so indicates that you attest to the veracity of the data entered - I checked both records, and you didn't do that, did you? If you would have PV'd the pub record(s) I could have surmised that you had the actual book available and approve on that indirect evidence (which I was now lacking).
