Images hosted on

Hi, and welcome. Thank you for the proposed contributions. I have put your submissions on hold while I ask you about the links to the cover images. The Luminist League website ( is not among the sites that have explicitly granted us permission to link to images they host. See Help:Screen:EditPub#ImageURL for the list and ISFDB:Image_linking_permissions for details about getting/recording permission. If you can obtain permission (or are in a position to grant it), we can use the links as you have them. Otherwise, they can be uploaded to our server, and we can link the records to those uploaded copies instead. Let me know how you'd like to proceed (you can reply here by editing this section; indent your response by starting the line off with a colon (":"). Thanks! --MartyD 11:57, 12 December 2010 (UTC)

I am the chief executive officer of the Luminist League, and owner of record of the web site I hereby grant permission to the ISFDB to link to images from our site. Luminist 01:42, 16 December 2010 (UTC)
Thanks! I will add it to our list and to our auto-crediting, and I'll move those submissions along. --MartyD 11:23, 16 December 2010 (UTC)
Images provided by the Luminist Web site are now automatically credited accordingly. Thanks! Ahasuerus 07:26, 20 December 2010 (UTC)

The Wheel story length

I've accepted your submission for The Wheel. I made a couple of small changes to match our standards ("pamphlet" -> "ph", added "$" to the price). But now I have a question for you about the length. Is it really a novel of 40,000+ words? For anything shorter than that, we would record it as a "CHAPTERBOOK" (chapbook) containing a single work of SHORTFICTION with an appropriate length designation on that (SHORTSTORY: 0-7500, NOVELETTE: 7500-17500, NOVELLA: 17500-40000). See Help:Screen:EditPub#PubType and Help:Screen:EditPub#Length for some details (and more elsewhere on that whole page). If it's shorter than 40,000 words, and you let me know the length, I can fix it up so you can see the result. You're of course quite welcome to try your hand at it, too. Thanks for contributing. --MartyD 11:34, 16 December 2010 (UTC)

"The Wheel" is a novelette of 10,773 words. I have made the change from "novel" to "chapterbook". I also added the month of publication. Luminist 06:31, 20 December 2010 (UTC)
It looks good now. Thanks! --MartyD 11:55, 20 December 2010 (UTC)

Diran Ajemian's The Edge of Immortality

I approved The Edge of Immortality, but changed the publication date from 1980 to 1978 to match what's in Reginald 1975-1991 compendium. Does your copy indicate 1980 as the year of publication and, if so, I wonder if you may have a second printing? Thanks! Ahasuerus 00:30, 25 December 2010 (UTC)

The reverse title page contains this statement: "First Arcadia printing, 1980". This mass market paperback has ISBN #0-931226-00-7. It has a copyright date of 1978. It also lists this information: "Library of Congress Catalog Card Number: 78-74822". Some online references cite a Jan. 1978 publication date but all seem to reference the same ISBN. Some references mention "hardcover" in the description but all copies I have seen offered for sale are the mass market paperback. Luminist 07:34, 30 December 2010 (UTC)

The Big Time

Hopefully I've answered your question here. Please note that new questions go at the bottom of the page, not the top. BLongley 19:58, 23 January 2011 (UTC)

Ben Bova's Millennium

I rejected your submission adding a pub of this title because an identical one is already in the database. If this record matches your copy, you can do another verification of the pub (Primary3). If not, please let me know how it differs and I'll reconsider adding a new record to the database. Thanks. Mhhutchins 05:05, 29 January 2011 (UTC)
