Welcome!

Hello, Kowen, and welcome to the ISFDB Wiki! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

Note: Image uploading isn't entirely automated. You're uploading the files to the wiki which will then have to be linked to the database by editing the publication record.

Please be careful in editing publications that have been primary verified by other editors. See Help:How to verify data#Making changes to verified pubs. But if you have a copy of an unverified publication, verifying it can be quite helpful. See Help:How to verify data for detailed information.

I hope you enjoy editing here! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will insert your name and the date. If you need help, check out the community portal, or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! Stonecreek 15:35, 13 March 2019 (EDT)

Your recent submission

Hello, and welcome again! I've put your submissions temporarily on hold, as they don't fulfill all of the ISFDB standards (for example title normalization, 10-digit ISBNs for post-2007 publications & prices), but I'll work through them. I don't expect any major problems with them. Thanks for contributing! Stonecreek 15:40, 13 March 2019 (EDT)

Black Bubbles

Hi, as you submitted this new publication, there is the problem that we expect to have for primary verified COLLECTIONS (and ANTHOLOGIES) their contents listed - but there are none. I've put your submission on hold for this and the reasons adressed above. Please leave some comment here. Thanks, Stonecreek 14:10, 15 March 2019 (EDT)

I have rejected the submission and added instead the first one, with a few of the shortfictions. Stonecreek 11:37, 18 March 2019 (EDT)

I'm sorry, I don't know how to properly respond, if this is the wrong place, please let me know. Meanwhile, do you need me to individually list the short stories that are in Black Bubbles? All of them? Or only those previously published somewhere else? Thank you! --Kowen 11:26, 26 March 2019 (EDT)

Hello, thanks for your response: this is the right place to answer. Well, it'd look better if you add the missing titles. If they are already in the database, they need to be merged (or you may import them). If they are not in the database, just add them with the date of their individual first publication(s). If you decide on just entering (not importing) I can do any necessary title merging. Thanks, Stonecreek 12:44, 26 March 2019 (EDT)

ok. and to make sure i do it correctly, (and cause less work for you), i see that i can go into BB and edit it to list each story, but that doesn't give previous publication credits for them. do i just add them each and then once they're in go in and edit them to add other info? for instance, Feeding the Animals, which is already listed in the black bubbles contents, was originally published in 2005 by Nocturnal Ooze. where/how would i either add that info? --Kowen 09:17, 3 April 2019 (EDT)

Well, in principle it's a straightforward thing. We are a publication-based db; so, to show up for a (story) title there has to be a publication that it's published in.
a) If it's the title's first publication you just have to enter the beginning page, the title proper, and the author's name.
b) If a title was previously published you also should enter the date of first publication.
To have all of a title's publications one has to enter all those publications (books, magazines, etc.). Depending if you enter the title(s) anew for each publication, or do import the title into a new publication after that has been approved, it may be necessary to merge the (identical) titles, because the system generates a new title every time you enter it anew.
If that seems a load of work, one can choose to edit the title (of a story or anything else) and note it's first place of publication (like here). Stonecreek 11:29, 3 April 2019 (EDT)
I just imported contents from Thunderstorm edition on ISFDB to 2020 Poltergeist paperback edition I borrowed from a local library, but I saw a copy on eBay with cover art by GAK which isn't on ISFDB, in case you have it and want to enter it. --Username (talk) 00:06, 28 March 2023 (EDT)
