There's only the one record change here that I can see and the only record was from a data-mining robot we have called "Fixer". From the two sites I can see where the justified changes came from, but the one thing I don't get is the series number of 19785??? The first chapters of "Cold Commands" were put at the end of "The Steel Remains" and has the same characters, so yes it is book 2 of his fantasy series, which ISFDB has dubbed "Land Fit for Heroes" — incidentally the working title for "The Steel Remains" ( http://www.richardkmorgan.com/2007/10/october-07-nuclear-reactions.html ). Contrary to the implication by the ISFDB entry for Cold Commands, this book was never released in Sep 2009; "Cold Commands" was renamed to "Dark commands" and was pushed back to July 2010 according to the publishers upcoming releases note -- or September 10th according to Amazon.
Come to think of it, I suppose it may be easier to delete the never released "Cold Commands" and just put the new correctly titled book titled Dark Commands under the "Land Fit for Heroes" series -- KelleyCook 15:08, 2 March 2010 (UTC)
That would make fewer steps for sure. As it stands by making the changes at the title record level won't change the publication record at all, and that's the desired end result. You could just edit the two records, title and publication. That gets rid of the vaporware entry and gets the new title under the series as well. Suarez title

Should the title for the second Suarez submission be "Freedom"? Ran the ISBN on Amazon and that's what showed. Changed the title. ~Bill, --Bluesman 21:16, 2 March 2010 (UTC)

Doh'eth! definately screwed that up. Anyhow the title as you noted is either "Freedom", Amazon's usage of "Freedom (TM)", or maybe the unsearchable "Freedom™", which is its proper title. Thanks

Robinson's The Lucky Strike

I accepted your submission updating this record, but have a question or two. You removed the "Plus..." from the title. It appears on the front cover image, so are you certain it doesn't appear on the book's title page? Also your submission gave Terry Bisson as the interviewee, so I reversed it, changing the interviewee to Robinson and the interviewer to Bisson. Do you know the date of this interview? If it was conducted for this publication, and this is it's first appearance, we should date it the same as the publication (2009-10-01). Thanks for contributing. Mhhutchins 17:58, 8 May 2010 (UTC)

I'm pretty sure the title is just "The Lucky Strike". At least that is how the publisher's web site has it ( https://secure.pmpress.org/index.php?l=product_detail&p=166 ) as well as Amazon ( http://www.amazon.com/Lucky-Strike-Outspoken-Authors/dp/1604860855/ref=pd_sim_b_1 ). In this book, Terry Bisson interviewed Kim Stanley Robinson.

Unfortunately, neither the Google nor the Amazon "Look Inside" contains the title page, and that's how the ISFDB records titles. The OCLC record gives the title as "The lucky strike ; plus A sensitive dependence on initial conditions, and, "A real joy to be had" : outspoken interview" which I suspect is how it's actually titled. Having read the book, do you recall what may have been on the title page, or do you have a copy at hand? Thanks. Mhhutchins 18:57, 8 May 2010 (UTC)
Hold on. I just did a search in the Amazon "Look Inside" and the title page came up. It states The Lucky Strike (over) plus... so that should be how the record should be titled. Mhhutchins 19:05, 8 May 2010 (UTC)
There's also a second title page which includes the author's name, the publisher and the year, which I suspect should be the official title page. It has the extended titled which OCLC uses. Guess we have to decide which is the official title. Sorry if this appears to be picky, but the standards were created because some publications have different titles on the dustjacket, the spine, the running headers, etc. So we had to decide which one title should be used for the ISFDB record and the one on the title page was chosen (librarians use this standard as well). "Fried Green Tomatoes" in The Left Left Behind

Hi, I accepted your changes to The Left Left Behind, but I made two changes to the new Fried Green Tomatoes interview you added. It had T. B. Calhoun as the interviewEE and no interviewER. I switched Calhoun to interviewER and added Terry Bisson as the interviewEE.

While researching that, I found this Google Books scan and also this Amazon Look Inside that show the title page of the interview using "Fried Green Tomatoes" over "Terry Brisson interviewed by T. B. Calhoun". The ": Outspoken Interview with Terry Brisson" subtitle only seems to be in the table of contents. In cases such as this, we go by what's on the title page for the contained work instead of what is used in the table of contents. So I removed the "Outspoken" subtitle. The "Terry ... Calhoun" subtext on the title page seems more like a description than a subtitle, so I did not include it.

Ferocity

I approved your submission for Ferocity. Since you said, and the Wikipedia article confirmed, that Christopher Knight was the same author we have in the database as Johnathan Rand I set up the pseudonym relationship and made the actual title a variant of Ferocity by Johnathan Rand, so it will show up properly on the Johnathan Rand page. proposed author change on Adventures of a Cat-Whiskered Girl

Hi. I have a question about your proposed change of author on Adventures of a Cat-Whiskered Girl. Do you have access to the book, and is it credited with the "M." on the title page? The cover, Houghton Mifflin's site, and Pinkwater's site make no mention of the "M.", so I want to be sure (the title page rules). We already have Daniel Pinkwater set up as a pseudonym for Daniel M. Pinkwater, and a variant title 1164778 in the "M." bibliography, so we would actually have to merge these titles together and get rid of the non-M. version (rather than changing it) if it is indeed credited to "M.". That was left over from my misunderstanding of how the creating a pseudonym variant (but listing them all on the main page) was accomplished, which I soon fixed. But now the edits were out of order. Regardless I've rejected the change you were enquiring about. The only thing I wish to add is that this book is the third in the Neddiad series [1]. Richard Morgan "---- Commands" ... again

Image linking

Hi Kelley, I've added two of your uploaded images after noticing they hadn't been submitted. After uploading you need to submit the URL image link, you will find this if you right click the image and then click "Properties". Copy the Address (URL), use the newly created title link(in Fair Use box) and then click "Edit This Pub" and paste in the link and submit. Hope this helps :-)Kraang 03:26, 2 September 2010 (UTC)

Ghost in the Grand

You submitted a publication of the collection Ghost in the Grand You marked it as part of a publication series "The Adventure Club" But it looks to me liek a regualr content (aka title) series.

Let me try to explain the difference. A content series is a series with related stories, characters, or settings, like say the Harry Potter series, or the Star Trek books. A publication series is a set of similarly packaged books designated by the publisher (or publishers) often related only in theme or marketing. For example the Ballantine Adult Fantasy series or the Millennium / Gollancz SF Masterworks series.

Which of these does "The Adventure Club" fit? I have the submission on hold pending your response. -DES Talk 22:00, 6 September 2010 (UTC)

Its definitely a Content Series. I pasted "The Adventure Club" into the wrong series field.
