Welcome!

Hello, Jrubas91, and welcome to the ISFDB Wiki! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

Note: Image uploading isn't entirely automated. You're uploading the files to the wiki which will then have to be linked to the database by editing the publication record.

Please be careful in editing publications that have been primary verified by other editors. See Help:How to verify data#Making changes to verified pubs. But if you have a copy of an unverified publication, verifying it can be quite helpful. See Help:How to verify data for detailed information.

I hope you enjoy editing here! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will insert your name and the date. If you need help, check out the community portal, or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! Hauck 17:03, 8 June 2016 (UTC)

The Rocking Dead

Hello, I've put your submission on hold as there's not enough details in it to identify the publication. Do you want to enter this item? Hauck 17:11, 8 June 2016 (UTC)

Yes.
Ditto for the last bunch of submissions. Please provide details of bindings, ISBNs, prices et cetera (you may state them here). Stonecreek 07:52, 9 June 2016 (UTC)
Especially needed is information & source for The Ghostly Hitchhiker, of which there seems no trace to be found. Thanks, Stonecreek 08:39, 9 June 2016 (UTC)
I've corrected your first submission, result is here, please read the Help pages before trying another round. Hauck 07:54, 9 June 2016 (UTC)

Some of your submissions...

... had to be rejected. The ones for The Hotel San Digot had an ISBN that led to an anthology that's already incorporated in ISFDB and is definitely no CHAPBOOK. If you'd like to add content to that one, just do it. Thanks, Stonecreek 18:09, 9 June 2016 (UTC)

Recent Submissions

I rejected your addition of a CHAPBOOK for "The Witching Hour". Per the ISBN and your notes, you are trying to create a CHAPBOOK record for a single story out of the Wax & Wane anthology. Only real publications should entered. If you want that story in the database, you need to edit the existing anthology and add it to that. Not create a bogus record for a non-existent publication.

Also, I corrected some errors in your other submission. Please read the help pages linked above. In particular, take note of the following:

  • Binding/Format: I changed the format from "paperback" to "tp". The ISFDB uses a specific set of values. I used "tp" (for trade paperback) based on the dimensions supplied by Amazon.
  • Initials: Initials in people's names should be entered with a space between them (ex J. R. R. Tolkien)
  • Currency: The applicable currency symbol should always be used as we catalog books from around the world in different currencies.

ISFDB has some conventions that need learning, but everything should be in the help links in the welcome message above. Please let us know if you have any questions (ISFDB:Help desk is a good resource for asking). -- JLaTondre (talk) 18:54, 9 June 2016 (UTC)

Question

How do I edit an existing anthology page to include the title of my contribution? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Jrubas91 (talkcontribs) .

Just go to the publication level (like here)and use the 'Edit This Pub' tool on the left side. Stonecreek 19:47, 9 June 2016 (UTC)
Remember also to keep the publication date of the anthology for your text, I've modified accordingly your recent set of submissions. Hauck 20:03, 9 June 2016 (UTC)

Got it. Thanks. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Jrubas91 (talkcontribs) .

The easiest way of finding a specific publication is searching by ISBN. If it doesn't have an ISBN, you would need to search by title and/or author and work your way down. In this case, assuming you are talking about Wax & Wane, you can just click on the link I provided in the section above. Also, when using the wiki, you should 'sign' your talk page posts. That can be done by typing --~~~~ or clicking the little signature button above the edit window. Thanks. -- JLaTondre (talk) 19:54, 9 June 2016 (UTC)

Dracula 1912

Hello, I've approved your submission but made a few changes to conform to our standards: 1) deleted number of pages (meaningless for an ebook), 2) added currency (I supposed USD), 3) transferred ASIN in the note field, 4) uploaded cover. The result is here. Note that some of the above remarks were already made to you. Thanks for contributing. Hauck 21:10, 16 August 2016 (UTC)

The Haunting of Frankie Marazano

I suppose it was you who added the issue of Horror Zine Magazine? According to the Amazon preview, the title of the story as it appears there is "The Return of Frankie Marazano", so I've changed it... And added the rest of the information for that issue. --Vasha 03:01, 27 February 2017 (UTC)

Whoops! I Woke the Dead

Hello. I've accepted your submission, but made the following changes:

  • Deleted ASIN from ISBN field
  • Added currency to price
  • Removed formatting code from image URL

The Devil’s Songbook

I accepted your addition of The Devil’s Songbook, but made the following changes:

  • Changed publisher from "Nidnite Press" to "Midnite Press" as this seemed to be a typo based on Amazon
  • Format: Changed the format from "unknown" to "ebook" based on Amazon
  • Pages: Removed the page count as we don't record page counts for ebooks
  • Cover: Added the image from Amazon
  • Contents: I added the one story that was already in the database.

You are welcome to add the remaining stories. To do that, edit the publication, remove the incomplete tag from the pub notes, and add the stories in the content sections. Thanks. -- JLaTondre (talk) 10:47, 9 April 2022 (EDT)
