Welcome!
Hello, Javverwocky, and welcome to the ISFDB Wiki! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:
- Help pages

- Help:Getting Started
- What the ISFDB Wiki is for
- FAQ
- Wiki editing help - Tips on how to use the wiki-specific features when editing wiki pages.
- Wiki Conventions - How things are usually done on this wiki.
- Help:How to upload images to the ISFDB wiki
Note: Image uploading isn't entirely automated. You're uploading the files to the wiki which will then have to be linked to the database by editing the publication record.
Please be careful in editing publications that have been primary verified by other editors. See Help:How to verify data#Making changes to verified pubs. But if you have a copy of an unverified publication, verifying it can be quite helpful. See Help:How to verify data for detailed information.
I hope you enjoy editing here! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will insert your name and the date. If you need help, check out the community portal, or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! -- JLaTondre (talk) 22:56, 2 October 2014 (UTC)
Jay O'Connell
I have your proposed edits to change the authorship of two records from 'Jay O'Conner' to 'Jay O'Connell' on hold. Both of these records are in primary verified publications (publications which an editor has compared the record against the publication). When changing records that have been primary verified, you need to coordinate the change with the verifier. This is done because we record the publications as printed, even if the publication is incorrect. Often the editor will have made the mistaken, but sometimes it turns out the publication had the error (in which case we record it as shown in the publication and then create an variant to show the 'correct' information).
For this case, follow these steps:
- Go to User talk:MLB (click that link) as he is the primary verifier of both of these
- Click on the verifier’s name under the Status column which leads to the editor’s user page.
- Click the "+" sign which opens a new message box.
- Enter a descriptive title and explanation of your proposed change. Request he double-check his publication.
- Sign your comment using the second button to the right (the signature looking one) on the toolbar and click the "Save Page" link.
Once MLB has checked the publication and determined that the edit is necessary, I will approve the submissions. Thanks. -- JLaTondre (talk) 22:56, 2 October 2014 (UTC)
- MLB corrected his entry errors, making the submissions moot. So I rejected them. Thanks for letting us know about the errors. Mhhutchins 07:29, 7 October 2014 (UTC)
