::: OK, so here is what we have [http://www.isfdb.org/cgi-bin/pl.cgi?743552 now] (found the author name in the Introduction so decided to approve and fix the few small issues and added the contents (and page numbers) from Look Inside). I also updated [http://www.isfdb.org/cgi-bin/title.cgi?1087492 the note] for the anthology. Let me know if you think any further changes are needed or if you have any questions/concerns or just make the changes. If you have the book, please check one more time all the titles and pages numbers. Once we have that, we should be all set. :) [[User:Anniemod|Annie]] 22:32, 6 November 2019 (EST)

Victorian Tales of Terror

Hello and welcome! I have a few questions about your recent submission.

  • We have earlier versions of the same book credited only to Hugh Lamb. Looking at Amazon, Richard Lamb is credited for an introduction and the cover but not as an editor for the whole anthology. However, the Look inside does not have the title page and this is what we use as a base. Who is credited on the title page?
  • How large is the book? Amazon UK has 12.9 x 19.8 cm which will make a "tp" ("pb" is for US style mass market paperback only).

Thanks! Annie 18:38, 5 November 2019 (EST)

Hi, Annie. I'm Richard Lamb. I was responsible for the publishing of this edition of Victorian Tales of Terror after my father passed away earlier this year. I re-published the anthology with an extra story which was not in the original volume. The title page credits Hugh Lamb for the anthology and story introductions, and Richard Lamb for the cover, new anthology introduction, and the introduction to the extra story. It sounds like 'tp' is more appropriate. You'll have to forgive my ignorance. I'm new to making these entries.
That's absolutely ok - that is why I am asking and working with you - the DB can be a bit... interesting. My condolences for the passing of your father - ages and time do not matter, it is never a good thing. :(
Based on that, I would say to keep the credit to Hugh Lamb for the overall anthology and add your credits to the appropriate items and notes - we go by the title page but it sounds like the overall credit stayed with your father (and "About the Editor" section seems to be about him. I will also add a note to the work when I merge them that this new edition has a new story added. Down the road, if the editions change a lot more, we can split them but for now, it does sound like the old book with a new story added (which is still the old work). What do you think? If you give me author of the new story (I can see the title "The Were-Wolf" but not the author in Look Inside), I can import the old contents and get the contents sorted (or I can work with you so you can try to import).
Just to make sure I do not mix them - the Introduction is by you, the Foreword is by your father, correct? The same one from the old edition?
Welcome again and let me know how you want to proceed. Annie 17:52, 6 November 2019 (EST)
OK, so here is what we have now (found the author name in the Introduction so decided to approve and fix the few small issues and added the contents (and page numbers) from Look Inside). I also updated the note for the anthology. Let me know if you think any further changes are needed or if you have any questions/concerns or just make the changes.
