Welcome!

Hello, Ilneval, and welcome to the ISFDB Wiki! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

Note: Image uploading isn't entirely automated. You're uploading the files to the wiki which will then have to be linked to the database by editing the publication record.

Please be careful in editing publications that have been primary verified by other editors. See Help:How to verify data#Making changes to verified pubs. But if you have a copy of an unverified publication, verifying it can be quite helpful. See Help:How to verify data for detailed information.

I hope you enjoy editing here! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will insert your name and the date. If you need help, check out the community portal, or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! Stonecreek 13:09, 17 June 2013 (UTC)

Bacigalupi's Ship Breaker

Thank you for contributing! I approved of your two submissions but decided to drop the publication series 'Ship Breaker' afterwards. I assumed you wanted to add the book to the title series of that name, but if you look at the title level, you'll see that it is already part of it. Please note that we make use of two different types of titles: 1) title series (for novels this usually means they are linked by a common character, an ongoing storyline or a universe), and 2) publication series, which actually is to be entered on the level of a certain publication - The DAW Collectors being a typical example. I hope that cleared things up a bit and won't prevent further submissions from you. Thank you again, Stonecreek 13:25, 17 June 2013 (UTC)

Reconsidering your other submission you made the same assumption for Shadowmoor, so I dropped the pub. series from that, too. Stonecreek 13:32, 17 June 2013 (UTC)
Thank you for clearing this all up. Glad to see this supporting and warm welcome to the site. Ilneval 14:58, 17 June 2013 (UTC)

Links to cover images

I've removed the link to the cover image that was added to this record. We must have explicit permission from the hosting website in order to link to their image files. Here is a list of websites who have given us permission to link to their files. If you have a copy of the file on your computer, you also have the option of uploading it to the ISFDB server and then linking it to the record. Click the link "Upload cover scan" and then follow the directions. Thanks for contributing. Mhhutchins 17:51, 17 June 2013 (UTC)

Lithuanian edition of Metro 2033

This Lithuanian translation was mistakenly entered under the title record for the Russian edition. I will remove it from that title and create a new one. If a work's language differs from the language of the title record already in the database, even if the title is exactly the same, please use the links under the "Add New Data:" menu on the front page. Thank you. Mhhutchins 17:55, 17 June 2013 (UTC)

The same error was made with the Lithuanian translation of The Fellowship of the Ring. I will remove the publication from that title record, and make the new Lithuanian title into a variant of the English title. Mhhutchins 17:59, 17 June 2013 (UTC)

And now I am pretty sure that I made the same mistake with this. Is there a way to fix it myself? Ilneval 18:29, 17 June 2013 (UTC)

Sourcing data

When you're adding a new publication or updating one that's already in the database, it is important that you give the source for your data in the record's "Note" field. Unless you have the publication in hand. In that case leave a note in the "Note to Moderator" field telling us that you're working from the primary source and then after the submission has been accepted, go to the record and do a Primary Verification of it. Thanks for contributing. Mhhutchins 18:06, 17 June 2013 (UTC)

I have only been working with the books I have on hand. Though, probably, I should have figured out that I should note this anyways. My Mistake. Ilneval 18:09, 17 June 2013 (UTC)
