The submission adding [http://www.isfdb.org/cgi-bin/pl.cgi?355265 this issue] was accepted, but it needs a couple of changes to get in shape.  The NONFICTION type is reserved for book length work.  Nonfiction articles within a larger work should be entered as ESSAY type.  When adding a second (or more) author credit to a record the full name should be given.  Can I assume that "Pamela" should be "Pamela Bulmer" and the last name inadvertently omitted? Is "Eric S. Needham" the same person as "Eric Needham"?  If so, we'll need to create a pseudonym relationship between the two authors. Thanks. Comment on nonfiction noted; the items are really essays which are more factually based than some of the flights of fancy. You are right about "Pamela Bulmer" - that was a copy & paste which was truncated. Yes, "Eric S. Needham" is the "full" form of "Eric Needham". I might be almost good at doing this by the time I get to the last magazine in the series. [[User:Farrago|Farrago]] 10:29, 22 June 2011 (UTC)

Welcome!

Hello, Farrago, and welcome to the ISFDB Wiki! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

Note: Image uploading isn't entirely automated. You're uploading the files to the wiki which will then have to be linked to the database by editing the publication record.

Please be careful in editing publications that have been primary verified by other editors. See Help:How to verify data#Making changes to verified pubs. But if you have a copy of an unverified publication, verifying it can be quite helpful. See Help:How to verify data for detailed information.

I hope you enjoy editing here! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will insert your name and the date. If you need help, check out the community portal, or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! Mhhutchins 15:55, 16 June 2011 (UTC)

Eric Needham

Hi. Thanks for the details about Eric Needham. One thing about the "Canonical Name": For an author entry, this is the name shown in the publication. The "Legal Name" field can be used to record a full name. If an author is published under multiple variations of a name, each one gets its own Author entry, and we then make some of them pseudonyms (presented in the various displays as "Alternate Names") of one we select as "canonical". So to record that Eric Needham is Eric S. Needham, for now that information would go in the Legal Name field (and if we ever found out what "S." is for, we'd spell it out). If we ever recorded any of his works attributed to Eric S. Needham, we'd then make one of those a pseudonym of the other (most likely, Eric Needham would end up an alternate name for/pseudonym of Eric S. Needham). Thanks. --MartyD 16:18, 18 June 2011 (UTC)

Now & Then Number One, August 1954

A few questions and comments about this pub. If it's name is Now & Then, there should be a comma separating it from "Number One". Under pub format field you give "half-foolscap", which is not one of our accepted bindings. (They're listed here. If none apply, leave the field blank, the description in the note field should suffice.) Are the three essays by Turner actually titled "Untitled essay part 1" etc? Or is it one untitled essay in three parts? If so, it should be title "[untitled] (Now & Then, August 1954)". I'm also assuming the dates of the contents should be the same as the date of the publication (1954-08-28). If this is their first publication, the record should be updated to reflect that. Also, and I should have asked this first, is this a speculative-fiction related fanzine? It would also be nice if you have the pub in hand, that you do a primary verification of it. If not, you should note the source for your data in the record's note field. Thanks. Mhhutchins 22:02, 19 June 2011 (UTC)

I have accepted your update to the record, and it has cleared up all of the questions that I raised in my original inquiry above. As I stated in my response to your email, please proceed to enter the remaining issues. We can then place them into a series which will tie them together. Thanks for contributing. Now & Then Number 2

The submission adding this issue was accepted, but it needs a couple of changes to get in shape. Thanks. Mhhutchins 14:11, 21 June 2011 (UTC)
