Welcome!

Hello, Elysdir, and welcome to the ISFDB Wiki! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

Note: Image uploading isn't entirely automated. You're uploading the files to the wiki which will then have to be linked to the database by editing the publication record.

Please be careful in editing publications that have been primary verified by other editors. See Help:How to verify data#Making changes to verified pubs. But if you have a copy of an unverified publication, verifying it can be quite helpful. See Help:How to verify data for detailed information.

I hope you enjoy editing here! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will insert your name and the date. If you need help, check out the community portal, or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! Hauck 08:31, 19 June 2016 (UTC)

The City: 2000 A.D.: Urban Life Through Science Fiction

Hello, I've put your submission on hold. As you intend to modify an existing record, please clear the matter beforehand with the PV2 at his talk page. Thanks for contributing. Hauck 08:33, 19 June 2016 (UTC)

No reply, submission rejected. Hauck 09:03, 22 June 2016 (UTC)

We're Civilized

Hello, I've approved your submission after some verifications. Note that such a proposed change should be discussed beforehand with other PVs. Hauck 20:13, 28 April 2017 (UTC)

Innocence - HTML

Hello, I've approved your submission but had to correct its syntax. You used a "wiki-style" syntax (brackets) instead of HTML tags ("a"). The former is to be used for example on this page, the latter in the diverse fields of the db. Note that we all made (and still make) this confusion.Hauck 03:36, 16 February 2018 (EST)

Sorry about that, and thank you for the correction! I saw after I had submitted it that it was broken, but wasn't sure how to address the problem at that point, so I very much appreciate your having fixed it. --Elysdir 12:07, 16 February 2018 (EST)

Your update submission to add a new regular title

Hello. Just wanted to let you know that when a title already exists, there's an easier way of adding additional contents to a publication; namely importing said already-existing title. Doing so will save an edit. What you've submitted will obv. work, but you would have to merge the new title record in a subsequent edit (I've done that for you). Importing can be easily done from the left-hand menu when having the publication record displayed.

If you have the book Dirty Tricks at hand, please scan the cover and upload. Would be most appreciated! And do a primary verification (left-hand menu 'Verify This Pub') Doing so indicates that this record has been confirmed to be accurate as it has been compared with the physical book you have at hand (if you don't own the book, then transiently verify). Magic Mommas, Trembling Sisters, Puritans & Perverts

Thanks for submitting the Constellation Press edition of Magic Mommas, Trembling Sisters, Puritans & Perverts and sorry about the delay with processing the submission!

I have approved the submission and updated notes to clarify that the copyright page has 2 ISBNs: one for Kindle and one for ePub. I then created a new publication record for the ePub ISBN. Finally, I moved Elizabeth Story's cover design credit from the "Cover Art" field to Notes: as per the ISFDB data entry rules, the Cover Art field is for artists only while cover designers are credited in Notes. Crediting magazine editors

Thanks for pointing out that Template:PublicationFields:Author and Template:TitleFields:Author do not mention what needs to be entered in the Author field for magazines, fanzines and other periodicals. We will work on updating the affected Help pages, but for now here are some answers:

  • For genre periodicals, enter the name(s) of the editor(s) of the issue in question
  • For non-genre periodicals, please see Help:Entering non-genre periodicals, specifically the part that says:
    • "Editors of PERIODICAL NAME" may be used instead of some or all editor names if they are unknown or unclear or not of genre interest. If using the "Editors of ..." format, get the actual periodical name as correct as possible.
