Outposts of Beyond, April 2016

Hello, I've approved your first submission for this issue. I've rejected the others as the seemed to me less complete (note that it's counterproductive to resubmit before the first submission has been approved). I've made some extensive changes based on what I found here: 1) regularized title format and put some info in the notes, 2) put this title in its magazine series Outposts of Beyond, 3) changed editor from Sylvan Bree Baker (?) to Tyree Campbell as per cover, 4) set format to "digest", 5) uploaded a cover scan, 6) regularized first poem's capitalization and 7) merged some titles already present in the database (Choosing Days to Die and Jewel's Price). FROSTFIRE WORLDS Vol. IV, No. 3 February 2017

Hello, I've approved your submission but had to make some changes to conform to our standard and to the reality:

  • Avoid titles in FULL CAPS.
  • I've standardized the title to "Frostfire Worlds, February 2017"
  • I've put the magazine in its correct publication series Frostfire Worlds.
  • Changed editor to Sylvan Bree Baker as per this page.
  • I'm quite sure that the name of the cover artist is NOT "'Blooming Skulls' by Vonnie Winslow Crist" but more likely "Vonnie Winslow Crist", so I've changed it.
  • I'm also quite sure that there is more than the 20 pages that you gave (you've got a poem on page 113), I've set the number of page to 120 supposing a typo.

Not One Of Us #57 April 2017

Hello, I've approved your submission but had, as usual, to correct some points:

  • I've standardized the title to "Not One of Us, #57, April 2017".
  • I've put the magazine in its correct publication series and merged the issue with the yearly title.
  • Set Format to "octavo" as per other issues
  • Changed "Robert N, Stephenson" to "Robert N. Stephenson" (otherwise it would have created a new author).

Illumen Spring 2017 Vol. XIII, No. 36

Hello, once again I've approved your submission but had to make some changes to correct it:

  • PLEASE DO NOT SUBMIT TWICE the same (partial) set of data, this will only cause problem. If you spot a mistake (e.g. a "K, S. Hardy" to be changed to "K. S. Hardy", wait for the approval and then update the publication. I've deleted your second submission.
  • I've transferred the ISSN in the note field (the ISBN field is just for that, ISBN).
  • I've disambiguated the From the Editor essay.
  • I've changed "K, S. Hardy" into "K. S. Hardy".
  • I've put the magazine in its correct publication series (again!).
  • Merged one title (Lost Sheep) that was already in the db.
  • Somewhat regularized title.

Dear Mr. Hauck: As a new and still learning user I have just discovered your refusal to post my edits based on the fact I never "responded" to you in the past. Why had I not "responded" 1. I did not know until this very moment that I needed to and/or how to do so (even now I do not know if I am doing it right) and 2. being a underage girl I am not at liberty to "respond" to just anyone (and will probably get in trouble for this exchange as my parents do monitor my posts). So, where does that leave us? In exploring the ISFDB page to figure out how to contact you I see there is a history of your "banning" people posts and in my young opinion this seems unfair, not everyone is an internet expert as you assume they are, some of us are just learning as we go along, you yourself must have started the same way. I will repeat: as of this moment 6/15/17 not only did I not know how to contact you and therefore "respond", I also did not know you had any complaints. Is deleting my post outright from the onset based on your assessment of my editing ability on your part thereby denying the ISFDB site the new information I am contributing although flawed (only in technique and not fact) ethically correct and fair to the readers of said site. ISFDB is intended I thought to provide up to date information about the authors listed, but cannot so be if you ban contributors because they make mistakes, sometimes as small as hitting the comma key instead of the period key. Hello, as the internet newbie and underage girl that you're pretending to be, you were awfully fast in unearthing my super bad manners and the fact that I'm a kind of ayatollah of the ISFDB. You were amply warned and this page clearly shows that I've tried to give tou all the help possible. As for the rest, launch any crusade that you deem right, with (this morning's figures) 145850 moderations of contributor's edits to my credit, you'll easily understand that I'm an easy target. Of Unicorns and Space Stations Vol 4. No. 3

Hello supposed underage girl, as it seems that your parents let you again access to the ISFDB, I've approved your submission as it was of a better quality than before. I was still forced to make the following modifications to conform to our standards:

  • Somewhat regularized the title to Of Unicorns and Space Stations, Vol 4. No. 3 (note comma). Perhaps is there a season given in the title as per this publication.
  • I've put the magazine in its correct publication series "Of Unicorns and Space Stations"
  • I've varianted Strickland's cover to its canonical name.
  • As you declare to have a copy, you should be able to determine its format/binding, please do so as this magazine seems quite elusive.

ILLUMEN Winter 2018 Vol. XIV, No. 2

Hi, I approved you submission for this magazine issue, but had to change the title from "ILLUMEN Winter 2018 Vol. XIV, No. 2" to "Illumen, Winter 2018". Ther result is here. This is our standard way of entering magazine titles which is for example used to create the magazine's issue grid. You can easily find out the correct format of the magazine's title by checking how previous magazine issues have been entered or by reading the help about magazine titles. Thanks. Denny Marshall vs Denny E. Marshall vs Denny E. Narshall

Hi, your verified copy of Scifaikuest, February 2018 has a cover by Denny Marshall, which is a pseudonym for Denny E. Marshall, who has three poems in this issue. There is however also a poem by Denny E. Narshall. Could that be a typo?--Dirk P Broer 08:23, 18 March 2018 (EDT)

Silicon Dragon

I have your addition of Silicon Dragon on hold. Based on the info provided, this sounds like a comic book and, if so, would be outside the scope of this database. It is a graphic novel, so yes some might call it "a comic book" but with 190 pages seems to be a big comic book. Book is so new I have my father's proof copy. so not yet offered online. My father wrote this as a screenplay in the 90's and it has finally surfaced in this form. He describes it as " a Roger Moore era James Bond movie as if Quentin Tarrantino directed it" I would tag it as "near future" if you decide to list it. If not, I understand but can not many graphic novels be considered fantasy or horror, such as "Walking Dead" which originally began as a graphic novel? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Elizabeth Hardy (talk • contribs) .
Comics & graphic novels are outside the scope of this site (there are other sites that focus on them). We make a limited exception for high profile authors (like Neil Gaiman), but that exception is even more narrowly drawn then our non-genre exception. Response to STONECREEK about The Day the Electricals Ended: the ISBN is the number listed om the book back cover' You could find more answers probably through the publishers site ALBAN LAKES PUBLISHING and their on line bookstore INFINITE REALMS BOOKSTORE which lists the above book in their "shop now" link
I had taken a look into this site: unfortunately, they don't seem to list either format nor a valid ISBN (which would have to start with 978-). As you submitted a primary verification, it would be the easiest way if you looked up these details and state them here. (And don't forget to sign your posts with four tildes: '~'). In case you did not get my response of a couple days ago, I think I would call the book a digest as it is the size of the other books by my father that Alban Lake has done, all so far in paperback. The number I gave as ISBN is so listed as such on back cover of book above the bar code but not on the title page where there is no ISB number listed.
